Hello everyone,
We've just released version 7.14.2 of the BOINC software that runs World Community Grid. You can read this article for more details. We recommend that everyone upgrade to this version as soon as possible. Please ask any questions in this thread. Thank you for your support, ErikaT |

The article links to the forum thread and the forum thread links to the article. As a result, there was a short period of time where the forum thread existed and the article was not yet public. However, that is resolved now.

Does WCG have a recommendation for the level of BOINC for Linux x64? The Berkeley web site recommends 7.2.42, but my distro gave me 7.6.31 some time back. Presumably there's a minimum level which will give us compatibility with 7.14.2 on Win/Mac? Thanks.

We recommend going with the version provided by your distribution. There should be a push soon to update the version distributed to 7.14.2.

I've just had the message pop up on by BOINC client about the new version being available. Being somewhat paranoid I'll let my current queue of work drain before applying the update but I have a question for upgrading on Windows. Should I manually uninstall the old version and then install the new version or will the installer take care of it all automatically?

The below line in the release notes wiki is so cryptic, it needs elaboration, being seemingly WCG specific.
Move new-version URLs from cc_config.xml to nvc_config.xml (so that WCG can customize) |
