I recently noticed that both my home and work computer have stopped downloading WCG tasks... If I connect to other projects such as SETI, Einstein @ home etc, they all download tasks that execute as you would expect.
----------------------------------------I updated to 7.14.2 removed and re-added the WCG project but still no tasks. I then went into device settings and removed all custom settings and selected the maximum output option. All to no avail, does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue? P.S. My work PC is a beast and has been processing tasks for several years, my home pc is an 8 core monster which was also processing tasks without issue until recently (several days ago). P.P.S. I've also tried installing the latest BOINC / BOINC Manager, that changed nothing, it won't download tasks either. P.P.P.S. I'm not a total noob, been crunching numbers on and off for over 12 years! What is in the Event Log? That would give us all a clue on what the client is doing.

May be you inadvertently set the website device profile at WCG to only sent GPU work? (WCG has none)

I've set the default profile (the only one I use) from custom to max output (had no effect) to standard (still no effect)... and I've set the client to use the web prefs... no effect.
----------------------------------------Under the 'Activity' drop down menu I select 'Run Always' and 'Use GPU Always'... neither made any difference and the event log still only shows Intel GPU request. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Paul Zahra at Oct 24, 2018 2:15:53 PM] |

Thanks lavaflow... god knows why I did it... indeed if I did it... but you were correct, in the custom profile Allow research to run on my CPU? was set to know... but that wasn't the end of it...
----------------------------------------I would goto the website, change the profile to be custom and check the checkbox to use it as default... change the setting... save... exit website Wait for client to update the WCG project (when it should download settings) and nothing changed... I went back to website and the profile was still set to use standard... tried this back and forth several times and the client eventually read the web prefs... But then I got errors saying disk space need but 0GB available... in the event log it said I had set it to 0GB max usage... WTF... went back online... in custom it says 5GB, leave 50GB min, no more than 10% total usage... again this was ignored... so I set it locally and it's all 'sorted' now. Thanks for your help all. P.S. Stupid bloody thing... everytime I goto device Manager > Device Profiles > Default > it says I'm using the standard settings FFS!.... this can't be right [Edit 1 times, last edit by Paul Zahra at Oct 24, 2018 3:44:04 PM] |

Don't be confused by that BIG IDIOSYNCRASY. The radio button reverts to the preset profile button if you have not manually changed any of the preset profile performance settings. If you visit custom again, you find the change of non-performance related entries have saved.
