Step 1: Find the EXACT version number and bit size (32/64), then download from https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=D and run. It should offer to uninstall.
----------------------------------------Not any other version will work because there's a hex number that's stored in the Windows registry which must EXACTLY match. If that does not work, there's really no other option than to clean the registry. I tried the free Tweaknow RegCleaner v 7.3.6 and it works a treat. It even listed the MsiExec uninstaller hex string. Version is 7.2.47 I believe it to be a 64 bit version. For some reason this version is not listed or I could not find it based on your link.

It's a 32-bit WCG-version. You can download it here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/wcg_boinc_7.2.47_windows_intelx86.exe [Edit 2 times, last edit by Crystal Pellet at Dec 2, 2018 9:17:49 PM] |

The link does not work...open a blank tab, that's it. Tried copy an paste and it downloaded. However, get the same error as before. I tried uninstall...still the uninstall fails with the same error.
----------------------------------------You did mention Registry setting...what are these settings and values? I am still dead in the water when it comes to running the WCG projects. [Edit 2 times, last edit by NKQX57A at Dec 3, 2018 10:39:43 PM] |

Have you tried one of the uninstaller programs from a commercial company? IObit Uninstaller has a free version. After using the standard provided uninstaller it attempts to find left over files and registry entries and offers to delete them. It may be worth a try.

If you're not comfortable editing the registry directly, your best bet is to find some sort of cleanup program to do it for you. If you search MrSofty's web site for the error you got, you can see that they recommend that you try CCleaner, which is free, and point you to https://www.ccleaner.com/ I have never used this so I make no personal recommendation, nor can I vouch for its safety.
