I can't see how these four commands being moved from cc_config to nvg_config will accomplish much.

If I were a company that was happy to let my staff run WCG, then I would be interested. It would mean the staff would be less inclined to download BOINC from non-WCG sites (including Berkeley) and more likely to only run the thoroughly IBM-tested and -approved versions. For those interested in security, every little helps.
And it helps to keep the IBM-branded version to the fore as well, so more likelihood of continuing IBM corporate support for the project. |

It says there: <client_new_version_name>URL</client_new_version_name> Shouldn't URL be NAME then? |

I would advise all WCG crunchers to avoid this download / update. It just refused to work (can't communicate with client) on my Mac running High Sierra 10.13.6 I had to revert yo BOINC 7.12 which works fine

Did you install the BOINC 7.14.2 or the WCG BOINC 7.14.2 (i.e. did you download from us or from the BOINC website)?
Can you do the following if you are willing?
This gets us into a known state. If you have the issue again, then look in /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data and send the files stderrdae.txt and stdoutdae.txt to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and reference this forum thread. That will help us figure out what is going on. Thanks! |

I have been using the software from the boinc website, ver. 7.12, not the software from wcg site. I downloaded and installed ver 7.14 (from boinc site), exited running boinc manager before installing the new version. It seems to be running fine.

When I posted "I have been using the software from the boinc website, ver. 7.12, not the software from wcg site.
