Re: New project is coming!

So, where is version 7.05 of MAM Beta, as talked about in the April 26 "Operational Status" update?
Quote: "We will fix these issues in version 7.05 of the MAM1 application next week."

Comment: "Next week" is now last week......

Given that it seems the BETA validators have been turned off (or there's a bug causing "PVal jail" issues...) I think it's likely that most efforts are currently concentrated on keeping a steady flow of MCM1 for the BOINC Marathon sprint...

And even if the new version is ready, they might not have had the chance to decide on the sets of parameters for new tests :-)

I'll be quite happy with waiting a bit longer if it means that we don't have lots more problematic units!

Cheers - Al.

P.S. I do realise that the [main] purpose of that post was probably to point out the lack of communication :-)

Apparently the marathon is having some effect. My Windows system will be dry soon, although the Linux systems are a little better off, but they too are running with partial caches.Nothing to do but wait see if the system catches up.

Edit:
Well, that did not take too long. After getting down to the last work unit on my Windows machine, the dam finally broke. Now I am back to full queue again. Maybe somebody gave the feeders a kick.

Cheers

Yeah me too. Beta is always chaos and that is to be expected but for me my time is more useful on a stable project. I will be a big supporter of MAM once it is ready for prime time, whenever that is. Good luck testers.

Re: New project is coming!

Last news on Jurisica Lab .....

MAM1 7.05 - Why is it Taking so Long? MAM1 is being refactored to use LibTorch and run also on NVIDIA GPUs.

Yes yes yes .... While waiting for other GPU models to be considered as well. But it's a good start, as MAM jobs are so demanding.
In any case, looking forward to the next batches.

Re: New project is coming!

Yes well be interesting to see how long the MAM project will take since it looks like it could be solely a GPU project.
Reason I say this is because the first project run by WCG was Help Cure Cancer when the GPU application was introduced it took around seven months to complete started in October of 2012 and completed in May 2013.
Project only lasted 7 months however tasks ran really quick, given the GPU power of today the project would have ran even quicker

Sorry, it does not look like 'solely a GPU project'. If you closely read WCG's words, you will see: "and run also on NVIDIA GPUs." Since the BETA-tasks ran on CPUs only, it means that running tasks on NVIDIA GPUs will be an addition.

Appreciate you pointing that out. I will be happy to run work on Windows CPU or my Nvidia GPU when work arrives
