Re: Where to hang out for 2 month downtime

I got my account set up on Milkyway earlier, but like True54Blue I'm seeing MW having issues... guessed we swamped it. If there isn't already a team there for us, I'll create one once they get the system stable.

Yes, I think between the publishing of their research paper and new members from WCG they have had an increase of ~1k new members. They will get get it sorted. The price of success. biggrin

Re: Where to hang out for 2 month downtime

milkyway seems to be doing better now. I'm getting webpages.

Question: where to set resource share? is there a place on milkyway in preferences to do that or do I need to do that in a file on my machine?

Go to account>Computing preferences.

Re: Where to hang out for 2 month downtime

I am also having problems joining other BOINC projects and receiving 1 day backoffs. I think I have narrowed the problem to the ca-bundle.crt file causing an 'certificate has expired' error.
Does anyone know how to update the ca-bundle.crt file in "\program files\Boinc"

See below link and others from googling ca-bundle.crt BOINC.

Re: Where to hang out for 2 month downtime

I downloaded and installed BOINC 7.16.20 over 7.16.11 which has solved the ca-bundle.crt problem.

Re: Where to hang out for 2 month downtime

Out of curiosity, I paused Folding@home & gave SiDock a try.
Running 32 instances at once on my 1950x, each thread was only six percent complete after two hours. Pausing all but a few units at a time (even while running FAH on both the CPU and GPU) is getting much better results.

The tasks appear to compete with each other for shared CPU resources.
The project may work best for CPUs with just a few threads, or whose users are adept enough to change BONIC settings to cap the tasks from that project while running other work.

That's interesting, Dayle. I have SiDock running on 30 threads on a 5950X and they take about 5 hours to fully complete. (Was trying to split between MilkyWay 16-thread monster tasks and SiDock but the former's out of work.)

Re: Where to hang out for 2 month downtime

This is my first day with no WCG credit. No resends have arrived, and all older WUs have been validated.

Rosetta (non-VM) and MilkyWay seem to be out of work for the moment. I joined Universe@home this morning. I'll see how that goes. :)
