Re: Short project?

On the subject of SCC completion date, when they say April 2017 is that the beginning or end of the month? I am almost to emerald and wondered if I should dedicate all my machines to try to get to Sapphire
Although I've got absolutely no insight, but by reading in-between the lines and seeing what's happened with other projects (the most recent of which, was Zika), I'm pretty certain that the "Ending in April" statement/progress bar, is way out. After all, and as already been said, the PR for the project is still ongoing and a Beta has just recently finished. Therefore, I'm as certain as I can be, that it won't be ending as quickly as is made out - and thus, feel free to make a run for Sapphire (as, at least then, you'll have got it - no matter what happens), but I suspect that there'll be plenty of time to reach your chosen leve.

Crunchers are referring to the date used for the project progress bar. The data file that drives the progress bar is here*. That estimate is based on the "known" work left and the rate of completion. As I write this it is April 23, which is less than 1 month away. An warning bell should be sounding in the data-center in Texas. Crunchers are now awaiting for someone to step out on a balcony and make some announcement regarding more work.

Cheers coffee

* try this link if the first doesn't work

Re: Short project?

Nix I hope the bell is answered .. I have 6-7 calendar days to Emerald. Hopefully, something happens before I plunge towards to sapphire and not make it.

Re: Short project?

I'm able to view the link. Maybe cut off the https:// and just start from the www. like this.

Edit 1: missed a letter.
Edit 2: The page is minimal minimal, the contents when I checked it now are the following:

{"project":{"completionDate":null,"estCompletionDate":"2017-04-23T00:00:00","id":122,"name":"Smash Childhood Cancer","overviewUrl":"\/about_us\/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=512","releaseDate":"2017-01-26T00:00:00","shortName":"scc1","statisticsUrl":"\/stat\/viewProject.do?projectShortName=scc1","status":"proj_stats.active"}}

The important part is the estimated completion date, shown as;
estCompletionDate":"2017-04-23

Re: Short project?

It's because the secure. part is out, which redirects to www. on properly configured systems. www. is for all the website front these days with https (secure) as sole hyperlink lead (see post knreed 2-3 months ago, maybe longer). Was already long enforced on my system with the 'https everywhere' extension for Firefox.

Although seeing the progress bar indicate the end of known work before April is over is un-nerving, many are confidant that the feeder will eventually be refilled with more work. The recent beta to restart the Android app would have been a colossal waste of time with a mere 5 weeks to go. Also it would rank among the shortest projects. Keep crunching dcs. We simply are over anxious to hear from the WCG techs and/or the project scientists on the subject.

Cheers coffee

Re: Short project?

Thanks nix I have only been around for 10 months. Unlike you and many others I have not seen too many projects so I want to get as many badge to sapphire before the long haul to a diamond or above.

Re: Short project?

Some scientists or techs should make a post here, if 71% and april are real estimated end of project
