Re: Short project?

I have never understood what the phrase "ECD in BOINC" meant as that is not a metric that BOINC maintains or calculates.

Re: Short project?

Think the term 'estimated completion date' was once used by a tech (uplinger) in a one off accommodation towards the members, but then there was that missed set, which added a few months ;)

Meantime, I stick to me private GANNT. (only accessible for the select, with all possible waivers of subrogation, and NDA ;-))))

Ah - ok. That is probably it.

The estimate is an estimate and I wouldn't take it any more seriously then something that can answer the question of is the end date in the relatively near future or far from now.

It is a piece of information that we can only estimate based on multiple factors that all have considerable variance in each of their values. These factors include: the amount of work that the researchers want to run (this changes over time), the rate of people contributing to the project, the current rate that work is completing for the project, the time it takes to run each workunit, and the number of projects we are currently running.

Re: Short project?

Guys, tech & admin
What's been happening with WCG ECD in BOINC for this research?
It shows ECD in Oct 2019., while the Research page shows 28% (which give my calc of ECD on Jul 2018.).

Either the % is wrong or the ECD in BOINC?!

Can you clarify where you are seeing the ECD of Oct 2019?

thanks,
Kevin

It was present here: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/api/project?shortName=scc1

But now it's more stable...mainly got the similar results as you do. wink

Nothings the problem - it's just sheer luck as to who your wingman is, as to whether he's got a large/small cache, runs 24/7 or just a few hrs/day, 4-5 days/week etc. What's certain, is that, eventually, you'll get a wingman who returns a copy (whether it's the original wingman, or a replacement WU sent out due to a 'No Reply'), you'll get your credit.

By looking at the WU in question, will show as to when your wingman's WU is due to be returned - and normally, it'll be returned before that day. Occasionally though, as I've alluded to above, that'll result in a 'No Reply' and another copy will be sent out - again, with a deadline for it to be returned by.

Edit: I've just checked myself, and (as can be seen below), I've got a couple of WU's that
I returned on the 22nd, and are still in PV jail...
