I'm still not panicking - although, I'll say again, it'd certainly help 'calm nerves' if WCG gave a realistic target date (or even, an explanation/confirmation that 'more is on the way').
----------------------------------------BTW, if I was to abandon the HST WU's my machines are currently crunching and switch exclusively (even ignoring any potential Beta WU's that may/may not appear down the road), for me to reach my Sapphire goal, I'd need 129 days of solid SCC crunching (i.e., just over 4 months - and therefore, if the date on the Research page was correct, I'd miss my target). ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Mar 5, 2017 10:39:23 PM] |

I agree with gb009761. If the project estimates are accurate I can't make Sapphire. Well maybe if the android work units come back and I stopped all other projects etc. So I don't think I'll try or worry about it. I'll just race to Ruby and then walk until the project ends. If the target date moves out enough for me to get the next badge I'll reconsider.

I have a feeling that we are seeing something similar to OpenZika, where it at first appeared to be a really short project as well, and then the progress was set back down once additional work units became available. I am not quite ready to panic yet, I was hoping to get at least a 5 year badge for this project.

And I thought that you are participating on this projects to help science, but you "panickers" are here just to collect badges...
----------------------------------------I would be most happy if we could crunch all projects in short time and see this innovations implemented in real life ASAP. I hope technology advance further on and shortens time required to find cures! But, saying all this, I am thankful for your donated CPU time. If there would be no "badge hunters", e would be even weaker. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 5, 2017 9:14:34 PM] |

It gave out Apr 2017 as ECD! And I thought that you are participating on this projects to help science, but you "panickers" are here just to collect badges... Luka820, although I'm not one of the people who are panicking (as I've stated a few times already in this thread), badges give people goals to stretch for - and therefore, of the 27+ years that my spare CPU cycles have contributed to WCG, I've attempted to spread it out as much and as fairly as possible between all the sciences (hence, my personal goal of reaching a Sapphire - 2 year badge).![]() |

I wanted to get HSTB to emerald first (6 days away), but maybe I need to switch all crunch engines to 100% SCC now.
----------------------------------------The project duration does seem very short. After all, it did just start in January. The progress has been climbing a few percent every day. Perhaps the techs can explain what is going on. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

Of course I'm here for science as a main priority but I'm a badge hunter too. For me it is an additional motivation (like in role playing games).
----------------------------------------The initial idea of boinc is to spend spare cpu time. The badges made me rent additional ressources, buy additional ressources and run everything I have 24/7 instead. Result: Good for science. Good for economie (IT industry, power supply company). Good for my badges. Bad for my wallet. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Eric_Kaiser at Mar 6, 2017 2:03:49 PM] |
