Luka820 doesn't seem to be very active, based on his badges and number of posts since joining WCG. A troll account, maybe?

Luka820 doesn't seem to be very active, based on his badges and number of posts since joining WCG. A troll account, maybe? Probably not. He did return a work unit today at 3/6/17 00:49:24. Some of us just don't crunch very fast, and most never post here at all. |

I forget that there a lot of crunchers out there that aren't running multiple computers 24/7. ALL CONTRIBUTIONS help push the science further. And I thought that you are participating on this projects to help science, but you "panickers" are here just to collect badges... Yes, they are very valuable. I plan to trade mine in soon for the free trip to Antarctica. Maybe I'll have enough for the trip around the moon later this year. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

Of course I'm here for science as a main priority but I'm a badge hunter too. For me it is an additional motivation (like in role playing games). The initial idea of boinc is to spend spare cpu time. The badges made me rent additional ressources, buy additional ressources and run everything I have 24/7 instead. Result: Good for science. Good for economie (IT industry, power supply company). Good for my badges. Bad for my wallet. so true.. |

Good for my badges. Bad for my wallet. Like some of us on STEAM, hunting for those "extra achievements" in games! Anyway, although this part of project is about ti finish in Apr...I do hope that the project will continue, as we have some BETA jobs for SCC...probably 'cause they made some mistakes in some cases of cancer checks for some part of data?! So my bets are: we're going to have lowered % of finished project & crunch it for a year or two again! ![]() |

Indeed, i have Beta units coming in for SCC on Android.... so I assume there *will* be more work, otherwise techs wouldn't bother supporting it anymore if all the work would be finished in a month anyway. But of course, I have absolutely no clue how much work could/will be added... we only will find out when it's here. But maybe that the additional work might maybe be meant for Android only? (since that's what the beta is about... again, I guess we will find out soon)

Hi. No need for apology. You would be surprised how many people read the forums without commenting, for years, and/or participate with just one weak laptop, when they are home. :)
----------------------------------------I think all contribution, big or small, with any reason is good for science. If nothing, general interest is good as well. So crunch on and for some, happy badge hunting! Just no drama queens, please. :D [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 8, 2017 11:44:13 PM] |

I think all contribution, big or small, with any reason is good for science. AMEN... in my book, returning 1 result is as honorable and valuable as returning 100. CJSL Gotta keep crunching, there's a world to save !!! |

For those who are in a 'panic' mode, here's some facts based on projects that have so far completed on WCG.
----------------------------------------The shortest 5 projects, in terms of timescales (in days), were; IADS 172 (05/05/2009 24/10/2009)So far, SCC has only run for 42 days (26/01/2017 09/03/2017) - currently the shortest project by far. In terms of Total Run Time, the shortest 5 were; AC@H 33:020:18:29:27 (03/09/2007 27/06/2008)SCC has generated 4,310:054:14:36:56 years worth of run time - currently 10th out of 29 projects. In terms of Points Generated, the shortest 5 were; AC@H 21,578,579 (03/09/2007 27/06/2008)SCC has generated 6,850,903,323 points - and is currently 12 out of 29 projects. In terms of Results Returned, the shortest 5 were; AC@H 21,578,579 (03/09/2007 27/06/2008)SCC has generated 15,995,701 results - and is currently 10th out of 29 projects. Therefore, if the 50% figure on the Research page is correct, SCC would still be the shortest project ever run on WCG by a fair margin. ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by gb009761 at Mar 9, 2017 3:04:25 AM] |
