Actually I didn't participate in a mass deselection, I just hit the pause while everything got worked out here. I figure later this month we'll see the date pushed out and I'll add this workload in my mix again. In the meantime, I'm slowly working towards my Emerald badge for Zika - got a couple months to go to get there, and a few WUs for the second round of Aids research and occasionally I even manage to snag one of these rare Higgs Bozon particles otherwise know as a TB WU. In the process I'm helping out plenty of good research in the process.
If I'm stressed out on anything right now, I have a tax business on the side and I'm trying to finish up those messy end of tax season 1040s, 1065s, and 1120s (and the 1065s and 1120s returns are late since a few of my clients who always listen to me (yeh right) forgot that I told them repeatedly this past year that the US Congress moved up the due date from 4/15 to 3/15 this year). If you want to get my blood pressure up on anything right now, sneak up behind me and yell 'April due dates coming!" - then I would smack you up the side of the head .... |

Oh by the way, if you want to be in the dark, try calling the IRS help line and see how long you get to sit there without interaction before they cut off you line in 60 minutes into the dead air.
Do that a couple times, and pretty soon those researchers start to look very chatty in comparison .... |

The recent short WUs have caused a faster advance in progress. Currently 94%, estimated end of supply 4/18.
----------------------------------------If the short WUs will continue, we might only have about 2-3 days of work left. Since none has yet confirmed more work to be submitted by the scientists, the project will probably go to intermittent state. |

I suppose the 94% refers to the WUs that have been sent out but not a tally of completed results? BOINC can store up to an additional 10 days of work after the steady stream ceases in 2-3 days time. It's a rush to the finish for badge hunters!

Doesn't make sense. Completed should mean returned and validated.

I personally think that the project scientists could be a lot more active in these forums - as, after all, certainly for me, it inspires me to continue. There have been many times I've wondered as to why I'm here, if not even the project scientists are bothering to interact with us. Well, unfortunately, mostly ZIKA, FA@H & OET scientists do that. But yes, it would be beneficial for the research as it's motivating for donors (of CPU time, their equipment & electricity). But many people don't see that. Like someone has got a 8 millennia of CPU time here on WCG for SCC1 project ( https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewProject.do?projectShortName=scc1 ) in 3 months time. To put that into perspective on Azure it would cost you about $8 million per month to run it or the total of $24 million for the whole project of 3 months run. Maybe time of a doctors / researchers would be beneficial if they look in this perspective. But right now I don't know if WCG has in any way show them the amount of donated computer time for their project? It's an easy Excel sheet - nothing special. But I'm sure they are doing similar things to show expenses of WCG, as a non-profit IBM organization for a tax deduction. Actually I didn't participate in a mass deselection, I just hit the pause while everything got worked out here. Well, some of us in EU have a 1st Mar to deliver the papers to tax people. So if those are not ready, I send them & write that firms XYZ didn't send me the results so I don't have the numbers for them. & that I will send out addition to my report. As from me, I did the job. Other didn't theirs, so they know where to look for "errors"! Doesn't make sense. Completed should mean returned and validated. 1:320:10:02:09 - few more days is all i want ;] I know what you mean, as I'm in similar situation! |

At the rate we're crunching (2% per day), the remaining 6% of the project takes only 3 days to complete. Yet BOINC allows us to store up to 10 days worth of work (if everyone set BOINC to store this amount, it would be worth almost 20% of the project!). You will probably still be able to make it to Sapphire if you get BOINC to store up WUs. Also, I expect some of the WUs to require re-runs due to no response from clients etc - it will be an intermittent trickle for a few days after that. Guys, tech & admin
----------------------------------------What's been happening with WCG ECD in BOINC for this research? It shows ECD in Oct 2019., while the Research page shows 28% (which give my calc of ECD on Jul 2018.). Either the % is wrong or the ECD in BOINC?! |

Just doing a rough (really rough) calculation of 29% done in 7 months would give the project a projected total of 24 months for the project, leaving 17 months to go or an end of about December 2018 to January 2019. This assumes a steady rate at the current progress and ignores any possibility of additional units being added. My crystal ball does not account for any speedup or slowdown in the project. I do not know where Klik is seeing a projected end date of Oct.2019.
