For those who have run on AMD, is a core being used at full throttle during the task as well? Would love to know! My 6870 was using 25% of one cpu core. I experimented with crunching CPU tasks on my i7 with 8 cores and with 7 cores and saw no appreciable difference in GPU WU time.

Rough (nvidia users), thinking about buying one amd for WCG than stick the 680' s on GPUgrid. They get 28% improvement in performance on new app over 580. Hmmm. What to do.

For those who have run on AMD, is a core being used at full throttle during the task as well? Would love to know! These are the GPU tasks I got on one machine in the last round(BoincTasks history) The result log is from the first job on the list. This machine is used for crunching and gaming. It is an AMD 1090T 8gb with a Sapphire HD7770(Cape Verde). During the beta there were 6 sn2s running at max, plus World of Warcraft. Normally I'd get 60fps on WOW but with the beta running it was reduced to 30. The Beta WU only used CPU at the start and end.

Yea..... Gonna need to buy AMD for WCG. Anyone know where the "tipping point" is for price/performance is? Thinking a 6850?

Yea..... Gonna need to buy AMD for WCG. Anyone know where the "tipping point" is for price/performance is? Thinking a 6850? I like the 7770: 1. 80w vs 150w(6850) 2. Can do double precision 3. Can be cheaper than 6850 4. Latest tech Just my thoughts. ![]() "Patience is a virtue", I can't wait to learn it! |

Mine are all invalid except one inconclusive dangler. Curious, may just be a coincidence. I noticed that mostly the wingman pair that have the valid results have the newer BOINC 7.0.x version clients while I have the older 6.12.34 version. I'm guessing those bleeding edge folks have newer/better GPU graphics cards. 4/18/2012 5:48:54 PM | | ATI GPU 0: Cedar (CAL version 1.4.1703, 512MB, 479MB available, 208 GFLOPS peak) 4/18/2012 5:48:54 PM | | OpenCL: ATI GPU 0: Cedar (driver version CAL 1.4.1703 (VM), device version OpenCL 1.1 AMD-APP (898.1), 512MB, 479MB available) 4/18/2012 5:48:54 PM | | Version change (6.12.34 -> 7.0.25) Upgraded the manager, let's see if that pulls in valid results for the next BETA round. ![]() ![]() |
