Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Round 4

BOINC: 6.10.58 for windows_x86_64
Processor: i7 950 @3.07GHz
OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, Service Pack 1
NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 560 Ti [448] (driver version 29573, CUDA version 4020, compute capability 2.0, 1280MB, 1428 GFLOPS peak)

All ran good. applause
GPU max temp 59C / GPU fan <60%
(7x c4cw CPU) + (1 Beta GPU) = average runtime 3:43
(6x c4cw CPU) + (1 Beta GPU) = average runtime 3:16
It seems they are wanting to use more than 100% of a CPU thread.
The CPU ran the whole time and the GPU ran 50% of the time.

I did notice the CPU ran a little hotter.
8x c4cw --> CPU temp 58C
6x c4cw + 1 GPU --> CPU temp 63C
I guess the GPU job is using a different part of the CPU than the c4cw.
But the c4cw jobs ran a good deal faster.

Time to put them into production... biggrin

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Round 4

Out of nVidia tasks, it appears. Still getting ATI tasks. Both use a LOT of CPU, FWIW.

Edit: Spoke too soon. No ATI now.

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Round 4

My 680 used a full 100% core entire time WU was running, as well as 97-99% of GPU.

Same here - 100% cpu full time on ATI & Nvidia
Just the GPU drop to zero 40% of the time

Nvidia knows about the 100% CPU utilization with some of its later video drivers with Open CL applications. This has been talked about on other projects including SETI and SETI Beta.

I have a question when is the Open CL application coming for OSX? I find it funny as Open CL was first proposed by Apple and it has been baked into all version of OSX since 10.6.x.

The computer that I was using for World of Warcraft, during the beta, has returned all invalid/inconclusive results.

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Round 4

Looking through the results of my wingmen , as far as runtime , it seems for the NVidia cards the kings are the 580 and 590.
The 480 times were also looking pretty good.
The 570 was sometimes faster and sometimes slower than my 560 Ti [448]
In one case my wingman was running a 680 and their runtime was 278 sec. to my 196 sec. shock

I didn't see any other 560 Ti [448] cards.
Does anyone else have one and how is it doing ?

I have TTrottle nunning I had it set to 100% and 50% CPU with GPU set to 100% and BOINC set to 100%.

Anti-virus is Microsoft Security Essentials

Video card is passive cooled
