----------------------------------------![]() In short= no This is why I'm going to buy an AMD for this project, NVIDIA seems more sloppy than I would prefer. Again, this is NVIDIA's fault not knreed's. Keep up the great work!!! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 19, 2012 4:16:00 PM] |

For those who have run on AMD, is a core being used at full throttle during the task as well? Would love to know!
Oops, sorry for the empty post. I have an ATI 5750 (Juniper) and have observed the following sequence of computation: Phase 1- 100% CPU, no GPU yet, for 30 seconds Phase 2 - no CPU, 100% GPU, for 210 seconds Phase 3 - 100% CPU, no GPU, for 70 seconds These times are averages across several WUs. |

On the 7770's double precision - it's truly awful! Don't buy a card like that for doubles. This project doesn't need doubles anyway, so we are talking about other projects that do need good doubles (MW).
Now is not the time to buy a card for this project; it's only started what will likely be a lengthy beta process. Wait for the final version, and then get a card. The apps/tasks could change between now and then. I already explained that two entry/mid range cards could outscore the fastest GPU (HD 7970), basically due to the CPU requirements of the project. So if two cheap cards can outperform one really expensive fast card (at least for now), you might want to shop around. When the project moves form Beta to live, cards will be less expensive. |

When I said I'm buying one for this project, I meant I was buying one whenever the project started. For betas I'll happily collect the extra time on my 680, need those beta WU. But no, I'm not buying one until this starts.

Just moved the GTX570s out of my main system and into my garage crunchers. Replaced them with a 7970. On my main system, I'm now getting the following messages from BOINC:
4/20/2012 5:05:29 PM | World Community Grid | Application uses missing CUDA GPU Then later: 4/20/2012 8:31:41 PM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for ATI 4/20/2012 8:31:44 PM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks ???? BOINC seems to recognize the change, does WCG? Will this machine still get GPU betas? If not, what do I do to correct? |

Of course, it will. That's what it's asking for.

Of course, it will. That's what it's asking for. 4/20/2012 8:31:41 PM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for ATI @BladeD: since we're in BETA, maybe it isn't "of course". When I see a a message that "Application uses missing CUDA GPU" - and my system has a capable AMD card - I fear that there's a problem. Maybe not, but I'm inclined to report it nonetheless. |

It said missing cuda most likely because you had a cud a device in their prior. Maybe it was looking for it again?

You could do a fresh install of your BOINC Manager and I bet it'd clear that "error" right up. :)
