Hello WCG.
Attention: WCG Techs; WCG Community Advisors Of late, I did not change any of the parameter values under my websiteSettingsPage and with that, I assume that my sync-up process should not be affected in that I should continue to expect the same trouble-free sync-up as I did before. The last four(4) WUs of my latestBatch are being crunched at the moment and I can do a sync-up just about now. Still, I ask my question: Is there anything I should know (and do) beforehand in particular to ensure a trouble-free sync up in light of the matters discussed in this thread? Good day. ; |

andzgrid,
----------------------------------------Not sure what you mean, but project selection changes do not transfer to the client, only changes to the computing behavior and permitted resources do and then only when local preferences are cleared. Syncing up of completed results is automatic and happens no later then 24 hours after the result files have been uploaded. That you can verify in the client Transfer tab. That should normally be empty with an active Internet connection. At any rate, there are presently no indications that the science project effectuations and profile changes are not properly syncing with the client and feeder daemon on the WCG servers.

Sekerob,
Thanks for responding. In the back of my mind, I wanted to share knowledge to the WCG community about events surrounding my case before and after I do a "sync-up" in my hope that this knowledge may shed some light on the website settings issue. Thus, what I wanted to know is this: Would I continue to get the same quantity of WUs as I normally would have (notwithstanding the talk about some crunchers not getting WUs according to their website settings) in a "sync-up" session? I continue to be ready to do a "sync-up" session with WCG any time now, meaning: I am ready to upload done-WUs and expect to download a fresh batch of for-crunching-WUs. Can I expect no problems in downloading those WUs amid talk about some crunchers not getting WUs? I'll report to WCG after I do my "sync-up". Your comments or advice before I do a "sync-up", would be appreciated. Good day ; |

Please go-ahead and put your client on-line and do your synchronizations. You should get your usual WU's.
----------------------------------------cheers and happy continued crunching.

Hello WCG.
As I earlier said I would do, I report on what happened during my latest sync-up with WCG, which is that: I did get an amount of WUs that was in line with my expectations (which expectations, in turn, is based on my understanding of the current model that WCG uses in allocating WUs for crunchers to download). With that, whatever it is that may still be causing some crunchers to not receive WUs, I can now say, is not happening in my case. Of course, that may as well have been the case for me as I did not change any of the parameter values in my webSettingsPage -- changes that were reported as having caused (indirectly, as a side effect) some problems with some crunchers -- of which the worst part is not getting any WUs at all. I'll take this opportunity to also share knowledge about what happened in my case on another area of concern: the HPF2 "error phenomenon". I have only good news there: Of the 29 WCG HPF2 WUs my computer crunched (of which I just all uploaded), only one(1) WCG HPF2 WU exhibited an issue, and it was just a minor one which I quickly resolved. In summary, it's an "all-systems-are-OK" for my case. Good day ; |
