Not sure how that can happen, Giba. The selected projects were saved, but am still getting work as per the old selection, the last inbound for HFCC being 11:57 today and several of HCMD2 at 12:37. Saw nelsoc reading this thread, thus guess he's heads down searching for the cause and what switch to flick. Sekerob, I have two slow and old machines (Mac and Core Duo) with a very old selection (at least a month or so) just to crunch HCC and NRW that are running and getting WU's without problem. But, I have two other fast Intel machines profiled to run in the mentioned "wise Beta fishing mode" (just with intermitent projects selected, trying getting Betas), which I can't change from this profile to pick other projects WU's. If I change to local preferences profile in the Boinc client, changing my settings, I can modify my work buffer days and other parameters, but not the project preferences which remain the same. When I change again to WCG profile mode (pressing the Clear button at the Boinc client), I return for the same initial looping without any changes. I tryed an experience here, and download again the 6.2.28 release in one of this machines, restarted to avoid any doubt, but the problem persisted in the same form. Additionally, I don't rebooted or turned off this machines in the last days, and in all I'm using Windows Vista over Intel processors, with 6.2.28 Boinc client release. Hope it could help tech team in something. ![]() Attach to another project [I have 3 backups], and switch there to the profile your slow devices are on. Once the profile info has been updated from alt-project to client, do an update in client with WCG. Maybe then your wise devices will fetch work, but it's a guess it will work, and in fact doubt it. Who knows it goes.

I'm not at the site with my wu-deprived computer or I would try it. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

It seems to me that the Techs are not as responsive as usual this time: No entry in "Known Issues", no timeline for an unscheduled maintenance, no information at all.
Can we expect any statement today? BTW this is not meant offensive at all, I just like to know if this issue is being addressed. Greetings ![]() |

I need bathing,
----------------------------------------In the context of what I wrote it was meant you can e.g. attach to SIMAP, who presently have no work, switch venue there, e.g. from home to school, update the client so the client knows to use school, then have it update with WCG so WCG too knows... there's still the hurdle of the profile telling the feeders. My guess it will not work, but who knows. Resetting does nothing but refresh all files for WCG on the client. The venue remains the same. It would be miraculous for the client to suddenly fetch the changed venue from WCG, when the server side messaging system is on it's back [or whatever the issue issue].

Sekerob, thank you for your suggestion but I tried it hours ago, before download again the client restarting the machines, and tried including unselect the intermitents ones, and check all projects, one per one, and so on... and don't make any effect. In fact, just discover that my old mentioned slow machines which are running with my old preferences settings, can't change it to any other. So, the issue appear be bigger than I imagine. My bet is that it appear be a problem on the side of WCG, maybe the website websphere applications or some servers setting on the caches for the website applications... I really don't know... Now I have two machines running dry and probably like many crunchers too. Would be great rear any tech posting an update to all of us, to all be in the same page about this issue. ![]()

I'm also running dry as a martini... My multi-cores only run the half of their cores, and the other ones only have work for about another 90 minutes...
I hope, the techs will fix this problem soon... ![]() |

Well, one of my cores has now run dry, and once the other has completed, I'm going to try something which may/may not work.... that being (and I've already set up a new account on the WCG site), to swap users on my BOINC session. Hopefully, that'll default to "all projects", and thus, allow some work to be downloaded...
----------------------------------------So, unless the techs come back with something (even if it's just a message - so far, I've heard nothing to say that they're even looking at this issue), then that's the methodology I'm going to try... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Feb 12, 2010 9:58:22 PM] |
