The following message in Forum > Official Messages > Member News [read only]: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=28392
----------------------------------------Contains a link to: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=SXXK7X4LW1 Which contains a link to a website which has been rated by Norton as unsafe (i.e., it may be dangerous to visit). Here is the Norton report: http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=cas.cn The detailed threat reports states the risk as low because it has been only found on two websites, and is limited geographically. Well, enabling javascript in order to read the page at Norton does not give me a warm/fuzzy feeling either. CAS is an official partner, so WCG will have reviewed their credentials, safe browsing behavior always recommended.

The CAS must be huge to have their own TLD. Norton's report is only of 2 doc files and they are on a totally separate subdomain from the Institute of High Energy Physics, which the WCG link goes to.
If WCG removed links on the basis of a couple of doc files in a vaguely related academic site, it'd probably have to remove just about all external links. |

Oh, I see, I didn't realise that Norton Safeweb casts it's net so widely. I thought it meant that the threats were actually on the page in question.
Sorry about the false alarm. |
