http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2012-13/energy/documents.html

Whichever way this pans out it's going to be cold living in the UK in the future

See thread title

This is being discussed in Parliament today

Longer term the burning of fossil fuels in the UK for any good reason will be banned and all non-nuclear power stations will be outlawed

...Just as we discover that yet again we are self sufficient in Natural Gas

The rabbit hole is deep with this one.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

A close call but the end result is utter farce

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/ju...defeated-energy-bill-vote

Have a read of this

While you read it keep in mind we have in the UK just discovered a whole load of Natural Gas in the Bowland Basin

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-busi...te-in-uk/article12306783/

and our Coal Industry was closed down with 200 years of known resource left in the ground.

Remember Fukushima Daiichi, Chernobyl, Windscale, 3 Mile Island.

We are surrounded by Sea for Wave Power we have no shortage of Wind Power that could be harnessed and Solar Installation on every roof is in reality very cheap to provide.

Without Nuclear ...with the resource that we have there is no reason whatsoever to be in this mess and our Electricity and Gas Bill should be way lower than they are today.

We need to power progress to a more efficient, effective World.

And yet one cold snap in 2015 with all the regulations that Kyoto, EU and UK Gov have put in place....

and the Electricity Supply will turn intermittent for the first time in 40 years.

Entirely on account of the shambles that is our Government and posited entirely on Man Made Global Warming

And yet all these Politicians have just experienced the Coldest Spring since 1891

Go figure!

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Fortunately, science is a method of investigation based on observation. You can form an hypothesis, but it's only a theory until it's confirmed by observation. You can't cheat the system, because there's a process of peer review, which prevents people from making false claims.

I began to question established wisdom when it was revealed that the climate scientists would only allow peer review by people who already agreed with their conclusions. Also, for the first time, when hypotheses contradict observation, it's now reality that's wrong.

I'm not saying that we should poison our planet, or be wasteful - being efficient and preserving our resources is common sense. But at least let's be honest.

Fortunately science is still a method of investigation based on observation. Whether I'm right or wrong, 'the truth will out', and I'll accept it either way.
