Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Nice summary from Delingpole

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdeling...-to-scrap-the-met-office/

I don't think they should scrap the Met Office just redirect it into doing what it does best - predicting the weather for the next 3 days and collecting weather data and archiving it for future reference.

Tying yourself in knots in support of a political dogma isn't best use of it's awesome resources.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

By the way the response from the Met Office is awesome

I noticed this had stopped updating last week

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/cet_info_mean.html

I wrote to them this morning and I already have an answer

"Dear Dave

Thank you for your email advising us that the Central England Temperature series is not reporting. Unfortunately the data is not available because the server that delivers this data has suffered a hardware failure.

We hope to have the service restored by the end of next week.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."

As I have recently had to visit my server to fit a new CPU Fan I know where they are coming from

All that new fangled building in Exeter and they still have the same problems as "on a shoestring" Dave

Let's hope they haven't lost any info as a result

Roll on next week biggrin

Dave

Driving back to Yorkshire on Saturday night.

One patch of sky was still illuminated by the Sun at 23:20 BST

The Solstice approaches

They are meeting today

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22937375

Note to Met Office: Nothing usual at all about our UK Weather.

Nothing that hasn't happened before

Just that you believe it should be getting warmer and that CO2 story hasn't had the effect you vociferously claimed it would.

That's the actual problem

Not the 20C outside ... because it's June and this is the UK.

A glorious, very typical, beautiful warm day in June.

Oh dear, coastal subduction zone may kill Atlantic Ocean

Hmm, how to blame this on global warming... perhaps that giant heat sink forming at the bottom of the oceans?

Panic !!!!!

Just think of all that Ocean it will displace and where will all that water end up?

Harriscott are you trying to make out that the map of the World isn't static and that it's possible that Scotland and Greenland used to be neighbours and places like Iceland just rose up out of the Sea !

http://www.surtsey.is/pp_ens/gen_3.htm (I'm older than this Island!)

Oh the horror

How many millions of years have we got to adapt?

Or will we all be wiped out by the end of this Century through our own folly and lack of preparedness for a cataclysm such as this?

LOL

I'm sure every year that transatlantic trip gets longer you know wink

There's an extra 0.00002161% further to go than back in 66. Planes will be running out of fuel before they arrive if this is just allowed to continue. Just think about that for a moment...think of the Children

It's back smile

Odds on for 6 out of 6 looking at the forecast.

...below the 61-90 monthly mean
