Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Worst winter weather for at least 30 years and it's only the 7th January.

Low temperature records being smashed across the Northern Hemisphere

In light of the alleged Man Made Global Warming

I'd say very surprising

another day of below zero it's -7C outside at 10am

http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/EBBR.html

What happened to our alliterative warmer wetter winters?

Just how many Hurricanes did make landfall in the States in 2009?

Our Climate is not under our control

Maybe all of the agreed to actions at COP15 have had an immediate effect on our Climate d oh

But much more likely.......It's the Sun wink

Wrap up warm folks and keep that cruncher crunching (if you have an electricity supply that is still working in spite of the weather)

Yours

What a ridiculous suggestion.....

The BBC is biased in the reporting of Man Made Global Warming

perish the thought

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

p.s for anyone who watches a UK TV weather forecaster at work

Are they under strict instructions not to mention just how many years have passed since we have had a similarly bad winter

It's just "a number of years" or "in past decades"

What do you think?

Completely and utterly meaningless. There is a thread for WEATHER.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Yep Eso

Is 2010 the warmest year on record predicted by the very same UK Met Office that predicted in 2009 a "Barbeque Summer" or this years Winter to be a mild one once again after last years fiasco

Is that the very same UK Met Office that spore Hadley CRU and is by it's own admission the mouthpiece for the advancement of the theory of Man Made Global Warming, adviser to the UK Gov and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change

That Met Office wink

btw it is so much easier to make 2010 the warmest year on record if you are in charge of applying the appropriate fiddle factor wink

Me I prefer to deal in reality

A reality that is producing an appallingly bad winter across the Northern Hemisphere in 2010

One not predicted by your CO2 Theory

It's a travesty that you are not able to show the warming wink

Remember that Hockey Stick graph we are all on the way up? Remember all those much more intense and frequent Hurricanes we are on the receiving end?
Remember the inexorable decline of the Polar Ice Caps?

Yep I remember 2005 too biggrin

** confusing ** weather with climate! ** the World Meteorological Organization shows hottest - not just the UK Met office.
Is that the very same UK Met Office that spore Hadley CRU and is by it's own admission the mouthpiece for the advancement of the theory of Man Made Global Warming, adviser to the UK Gov and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change

HadCRU isn't the only data set. **

A reality that is producing an appallingly bad winter across the Northern Hemisphere in 2010

Weather is not climate. Weather is not climate. Weather is not climate.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Saying that there is no Global Warming because it is cold is like saying there are no Trucks on the road because the magazine is called Car and Driver. If the term had been 'Global Cooling', the same people that deny the obvious changes in climate would still deny it because it is not cool. Let me just head off the idea of using the title 'Global Changes' because the same naysayers would deny the truth if the temperature was the same for 2 days in a row.

The term Global Warming is a label, a term, a title. It is also used to describe a climate phenomena where 40 years ago I could play outside with no shirt and no sunscreen and get a minor 1st degree burn and today in the same location I would get 2nd degree blisters if I was out for the same length of time.

Those denying the obvious are free to state their opinion, but they have no science that backs them. They obfuscate the truth and subvert science and are still unable to prove their invalid opinions. Keep those opinions and charts coming because WCG seems to have unlimited disk space to store what some call proof there is no Global Warming, but I call it drivel.

Nevertheless it bothers me that a large group of people can come together to work on solving Aids, Cancer, Denge fever and MD but some of those members have to insert into that community a highly charged argument on something that has no benefit to WCG. To the point that the argument causes people to lose their composure and a sense of respect for others, and even go so far as to mask the benefits of being a cruncher.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

And if we tried to look at the problem in another way.

1) I suppose that you would agree that the jury is still out to know if our human made activities on this planet do have an impact on the warming or if there is a more cyclic climatic effect that is the main engine and simply it is a coincidence that made both happen at the same time. Some of you maybe convinced that the scientific evidence is there others the opposite. Fine, frankly I do not care. If we get one day a final and definite absolute scientific proof then it is nice to have. But we must still be there when this final answer will come and it may be too late.

2) So is 1) is this the real question and the right debate. As we debate of this we forget to look at the facts. Real physical facts. I mean breathable, that can be felt with our senses, that can be seen.

3) What are those facts? That is simply said pollution: exhaustion of natural resources, shrinking of the genetic diversity, destruction of the forest and nature, contamination of air and water, depletion of fisheries etc. etc.

I suppose that the point 3) does not need a debate and all can agree that yes for that we the humanity, are the sole and unique responsible.

We have to set the priorities here. Let"s work first to find solutions to 3) and then the other debate on warming will be solved by itself. In fact there will be no debate anymore.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Dear astrolab

This thread raises an issue that has consequences for all Mankind and is key to technological progress and the Number Crunching Giant that is the World Community Grid

If the we are all doomed CO2 brigade have their way there will be no scientific breakthroughs in all of the area's of research the WCG is able to contribute to today.

The carbon debits and the climate change levies and wrong decision making on our energy supplies that the we are all doomed CO2 brigade have already rained down on us has (without a doubt in the UK and Europe) stifled the altruistic potential

It has given those in power the means to reintroduce Nuclear Power and the means to talk about Population Control and at the same time removed the right of anyone the decency of raising any negative connotations about both issues - something I personally feel very strongly about.

So without a doubt this thread, it is not a debate, belongs here on the WCG

** ignore what is unfolding before our very eyes you are more than welcome to keep them tightly shut

Hypernova I'm with you all the way on being environmentally friendly and using renewable energy sources

It's the negative consequences of the we are all doomed CO2 brigade without the scientific proof that's my beef

......are you ready?

This winter especially it will be played ...

Global Warming Denial Bingo (A fun game for all the family!)
http://www.scribd.com/doc/24897388/Global-War...n-game-for-all-the-family

... most fervently in certain parts of the UK, somewhere below where Hadrian built the wall -21.6C in Scotland, + 22.3C where I live last week, all plants on the terasses after 17 days of absence tinder dry, not a speck of snow seen along the 250km mountain trip last night, middle of the night with 15C on the car's ground level temp indicator.

enjoy the snow while you can.
