Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Today in Copenhagen COP15.....

The discussion has reached that all important question "Should Dave Autumns marry Cindy (2C) Crawford or Elle (1.5C) McPherson?"

A whole group of protesters are waving Banners outside proclaiming "Why has Dave settled for Cindy when he should be aiming to Wed Elle?"

meanwhile back in the real world I have just looked out of the window and here's what I see

It being December 16th and all biggrin

My how that climate has changed

Anyway the answer to the former is as plain as the nose on your face

More from the same cartoonist Jos Collignon...

The cell-ist says "Kopenhagen? May I speak to the chairman of the Environment Conference?"

Poor Santa, he was coming to town.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Weathering the storm of stupidity:
http://salon.com/news/opinion/feature/2009/12/16/stupidity/index.html

Unless and until, that is, scientific endeavor impinges upon either A) religious belief, or B) the ability of tycoons to keep making money in precisely the way they or their ancestors have always made their money. Then it's every man and woman a climatologist, and every genuine expert an "elitist" enemy of God and the American way -- creationism with a thermometer.

Charles P. Pierce describes what he calls the "three great premises" of talk-radio populism in his acerbic book "Idiot America":

First Great Premise: Any theory is valid if it moves units ... Second Great Premise: Anything can be true if someone says it loudly enough ... Third Great Premise: Fact is that which enough people believe. Truth is measured by how fervently they believe it...

However, the kind of worldwide conspiracy conjured by global climate change deniers like Palin, Hannity and the rest -- that is, as an evidence-free, religio-political cult that's the mirror image of their own movement -- simply can't exist in a scientific context. Meanwhile, Arctic sea ice is vanishing, glaciers melting, sea levels rising, droughts and floods increasing, and the past decade -- according to the World Meteorological Organization -- was the warmest in recorded history.

But hey, look over there: some elitist e-mails!

Opinions are great, but just that.
Unfortunately Al Gore is just trying to keep his name 'in the news' and in the process has made a mockery of the whole conference.
Still no facts. While I don't agree with your opinion, you can go ahead and talk, but just because you say it is so, doesn't make it so.

There is 4 to 6 inches in Washington DC right now and there is supposed to be up to 2 FEET by the time it is all done! We will be socked in for DAYS!!! They really panic here whenever we get even a dusting, a record breaker will disable this place for weeks!! The record is just short of 15 inches, they are predicting 12 to 24 inches of the stuff by tonight! Welcome home Obama! Here is a local tv stations webcam:
