Try the following for your cc_config file:
<cc_config> <log_flags> <file_xfer_debug>1</file_xfer_debug> <http_debug>1</http_debug> <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug> <proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug> </log_flags> <options> <force_auth>ntlm</force_auth> </options> </cc_config> |

AH - HA! Thanks knreed.
That seems to be the Magic Spell. Forcing ntlm auth seems to have fixed the client - server interaction. Now -- any ideas about why my Proxy settings are being overwritten by my computer name? It will not stay on the proxy url that I place in the setup area for proxy and port. Advanced -> Options -> HTTP Proxy -- George |

? Where exactly do you see your computer name appearing.... in the http Proxy options screen, on the website? What's in the Options > Connection Tab and have any been selected as default?

Hi Sekerob - Thanks for your help.
Ref: client version 5.10.45 Now that my BOINC client is talking with the server -- I would like to have my Proxy settings actually maintained between each execution of the BOINC client. From the tool bar: Advanced -> Options -> HTTP Proxy There are 4 pieces of information that I have entered: HTTP Proxy Server Configuration Address: blah1.blah2.com Port: 80 User Name: smithbill Password: ********* So, for me, when I execute the BOINC client - I must open this window and re-enter the Proxy Address and Port number every time I execute the client. Because -- instead of keeping the correct Proxy and Port number from the last time I entered the info --- I now have: Address: BillSmith <--- this would be an example computer name. Port: 0 <--- I'm not sure where this comes from. The Username and Password seem to be OK as entered from before. I have somehow lost the real Proxy address and Port number. So -- I end up having to re-enter that information every time I start up the client. I believe that this means that my actual Proxy information is not there and my client will not be able to communicate with the Server. I have examined the file called: client_state.xml It contains the incorrect info. I can change it in the file to be the correct info... but, the next time the client is started -- the info reverts back to the wrong stuff. It seems that the client in not paying any attention to the: <http_server_name>blah1.blah2.com</http_server_name> <http_server_port>80</http_server_port> information in the file. And it becomes overwritten at the next client startup. Thanks for your help -- George |

Just curious where that Proxy is: What IP address do you get if you ping blah1.blah2.com? Is it known to be a static address and could you try entering the IP number instead in the address box. The Computer name would be equal to either your local host IP (127.0.0.1) or the IP your computer is known as on the LAN/WAN e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx
