lucidtechgrid,
----------------------------------------You may want to read up on the topic of 'Homogeneous Redundancy' or HR. Not many projects use it AFAIK, but WCG certainly does. http://www.boinc-wiki.info/index.php?title=Homogeneous_Redundancy cheers

What this has to do with my post? Doesn't have something to tell me it is not possible. Since the calculation will be a bit different

No, it's not possible. Sorry. I'm still not so sure. Someone did ask the same thing on the BOINC forums. I still have to test it one of these days with my test BOINC directory, but perhaps it is possible to use Wine. See at least my post and what rhb has tried already. ;)

@ lucidtechgrid,
----------------------------------------okay, *you can* and all the results that are computed started on one and finish on another operating system, or those send to one platform and returned by another will be declared invalid at WCG. Added: @Ageless, Running in Wine, computing the whole thing within Wine, maybe, but whether that would create a consistent result? Edit: Inserted 2x @xxxx address.

LOL, which is why I will test it with my test directory and own compiled BOINC, plus BOINC Alpha tasks. Somewhere this weekend. I need to update my Mepis anyway.

BOINC Alpha doesn't use homogeneous redundancy, so whatever results you get won't translate over to WCG.
