Good day, everyone. Sorry for my English.
----------------------------------------I used UD client and it worked good. Now I install Boinc client and recieve proxy errors. In cc_config.xml : <cc_config> <log_flags> <proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug> <http_debug>1</http_debug> <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug> </log_flags> <options> </options> </cc_config> Error log : 28.11.2007 9:38:15|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Fetching scheduler list 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] info: Examining connection #0 for reuse 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] info: Connection #0 seems to be dead! 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] info: Closing connection #0 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] info: About to connect() to proxy 10.4.1.8 port 80 (#0) 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] info: Trying 10.4.1.8... 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] info: Connected to 10.4.1.8 (10.4.1.8) port 80 (#0) 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] Sent header to server: GET http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ HTTP/1.1 User-Agent: BOINC client (windows_intelx86 5.8.16) Host: www.worldcommunitygrid.org Pragma: no-cache Accept: */* Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded 28.11.2007 9:38:15||[http_debug] [ID#3] Received header from server: HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Hi uhhu,
----------------------------------------When WCG circulated the UD to BOINC migration letter it would have been useful to propose holding off or be willing to dig in. Perpetuating proxy issues through the latest WCG recommended version is for a number of converters a show stopper. Here's a link to a thread at the developers,. That thread links thru to further threads on the proxy topic. The latest one is highlighting that BOINC seems to use an anonymous proxy. Communication via proxy is never authenticated http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=2319 Hope you can find a workaround in any of this. cheers
WCG

Ironic, isn't it? Dev forum that the devs don't actually read....
That thread title is totally wrong. libCurl just has a problem with a few NTLM proxies - most of the examples in this thread seem to be squid. |

Good day, Sekerob.
Thank you for your help! It's all OK! I install and configure NTLM Authorization Proxy Server. Rather inconveniently, of course, but working...:) I found a ticket at the BOINC site : http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/343 ,they still don't close it. |

Neither using it
---------------------------------------- I don't know how to set following parameters: LISTEN_PORT:5865 (shall I leave it as is in any case?) PARENT_PROXY:myproxyname PARENT_PROXY_PORT:3128 (the port no. my factory proxy uses) NT_DOMAIN:MY_WIN_DOMAIN (i think it shoul be mycompanyname.it, without www, isn't it right?; or sould it by my_group_name, i.e. WORKGROUP? ) USER: is it the user with wich I access windows when system starts up? or, rather, should it be the user which I use ti access interned through proxy? ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by fotodiandrea at Dec 5, 2007 2:29:06 PM] |

I got around it by loading up SOCKS Puppet, a lightweight SOCKS proxy on one of my servers, and all the BOINC clients proxy to the SOCKS Puppet proxy, which then tunnels through the firewall. Not an elegant solution, but it works.

Sorry for the delay. I'm missing notifications for new posts... (or just still don't know how to set them up).
I don't know how to set following parameters: LISTEN_PORT:5865 (shall I leave it as is in any case?) I think so. I left it unchanged. It sould not matter as long as any other application (you've installed) on your computer listens to that port. PARENT_PROXY:myproxyname The IP address (or the corresponding domain name) of your factory proxy. Just like you set it up in the browser. PARENT_PROXY_PORT:3128 (the port no. my factory proxy uses) Yes. Just like you set it up in the browser. From now on, I'm not able to express myself with simple words. Maybe someone else could summarize it? USER: is it the user with wich I access windows when system starts up? or, rather, should it be the user which I use ti access interned through proxy? ![]() If your computer is just in a workgroup, then it is some user name you use to access internet, as you say it. If your computer belongs to any Windows domain, then the login name (for your system) would probably match the user name to access internet. (But not necessarily.) Anyway, you have to use the user name, which gets you through proxy to internet ![]() NT_DOMAIN:MY_WIN_DOMAIN (i think it shoul be mycompanyname.it, without www, isn't it right?; or sould it by my_group_name, i.e. WORKGROUP? ) If your computer allows multiple simultaneous users to be logged in (by clicking on nice picture and typing in a password), then no, it is not in a domain. If you do not need any domain name in your browser, you can omit the domain name. If your computer belongs to a Windows domain, you can find the domain name in System Properties dialog, Computer Name tab [ start / Control Panel / System / Computer Name -> Domain: ] But this name (something like "mycompanyname.it") is usually not the one to be typed in to the login window. If belonging to a domain, you are forced to log in to your computer using CTRL-ALT-DEL and then the login window, containing three lines: username, password and (capitalized) domain name (more likely "MYCOMPANYNAME_IT"). Then, in the browser when you access internet, you either type "username password" or "DOMAIN\username password". But still, your proxy may require other DOMAIN\username+password than your login. |
