Right-top of 1st post on all forum pages "Watch this thread" ![]() Got it. The problem was, I've set a Category Watch for Active Research more than a year ago. Thus I was actually often overlooking few threads in the plenty of others. Still no news about my problem?
----------------------------------------Will I be forced to abandon wcg bacause of a software problem? I really can't understand why boinc doesn't work with proxy when UD works correctly... could't they use the same algorithm? ![]() ![]() |

Hello fotodiandrea,
knreed has been working on this for weeks. Here is his most recent post (29 Jan 2008) in http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17797#148421 Good news on the NTLM front. We have been working with the libCurl team to resolve this issue and there has been some good progress. We will be releasing a new version of the client in the next 2-3 weeks that will support NTLM authentication. At the moment there will still be one problem that will require a workaround the user must do (i.e. manually set a flag in the cc_config.xml file). We are continuing to work to eliminate the workaround and hope to have that resolved in the next day or two. If we cannot get it resolved quickly, then we will go ahead and have the BOINC team go ahead and release a version of the client for testing that will allow NTLM to at least work with this workaround. Then in some future release we can hopefully fix the problem in its entirety so that NTLM auth will work automatically. |

Ok the test build for the version of BOINC that should support NTLM authentication has been released.
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.10.40_windows_intelx86.exe This is a test build so keep that in mind. This version is set to automatically work with NTLM proxies (if it is your http proxy). However, our testing didn't show that always working. If you find that it doesn't work automatically, then please create a file called cc_config.xml in your BOINC installation folder that contains the following: <cc_config> <log_flags> <file_xfer_debug>1</file_xfer_debug> <http_debug>1</http_debug> <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug> <proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug> </log_flags> <options> <force_ntlm>1</force_ntlm> </options> </cc_config> This will force the underlying libCurl package to assume NTLM auth will be used. Our testing showed that this did work correctly. Please let us know how the testing goes. I will be cross posting this message in the beta testing forum. |

Remember to take out the <log_flags> section when you are finished testing, or you will be swamped with messages.
BOINC Manager has an option under "Advanced" to reread the config file without having to restart BOINC. |

:)
----------------------------------------The new version works (and the UD client has vanished without a trace). Thanks to all involved. ![]() |
