is this 24 hours or 36?.... Stats run 2 x a day (See Schedules link below). Recent registrations that actually reported a result was 300 daily and just around 1000 devices.

The first measurement was actually borrowed from page 2 of this thread (Apr 27, 2007 6:18:57 PM) and todays numbers were noted Apr 28, 2007 4:17:46 PM...
----------------------------------------As I said, not really accurate... I think it would be encouraging for everybody that the number of refugees are supervised (before you know it, these illegal alians will be taking over your jobs )

Thanks for the welcome - feel at home already and only been up and running 12 minutes. Am proud of my previous 180000 or so points , about '1½ years'. A small fish but hopefully will help out in the big ocean.

I've found 15 machines or so to transfer so far.
----------------------------------------Many of the machines I use, with permission from the owners, are on a corporate LAN. I am the backup IT guy, but I am not the primary user of most of these machines. In some cases, it would be best to run this as a service, as some end users really don't understand computers and try to shut down anything they don't use themselves. When running as a service, any thoughts as to whether BOINC or UD agent is better? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Go for BOINC without any more ado. Download the recommended version only for the appropriate OS. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php
----------------------------------------Make sure to read the install instructions so an BOINC Account Key is created prior to connecting. Follow the WCG install path, but don't use the WCG package as at the moment it only allows single user, opposed to the general distribution from Berkeley which has the 'service' option. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadBoinc.do?newMember=false The top option of the download page is the old UD agent, the others are BOINC for Linux, MAC and Windows.

BOINC is the only agent that officially runs as a service (and it does it well). UD as a service is a horrible kludge, and not supported - you do it at your own risk.....
Remember to download BOINC from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php (the WCG download has had the service install surgically removed). |

Thanks! That means I get to go find all those machines & change them over. :( Next question. I used BOINC a while ago (actually quite a while) for the SETI Project. I am using the same username/email addy now as then. Is BOINC going to put my stats on that old account/team? ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by cargod01 at Apr 28, 2007 8:15:41 PM] |

No, if you joined a team at WCG different from SETI, you will show at BOINCstats with WCG points going to your WCG team.

I was on a team at Grid that I was the only active participant left. Everyone else stayed at SETI/BOINC. I've had Cancer, but I have never seen ET.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
