hopefully you got back up and running okay. Yes and no. The system came back up and once connected, it started running without a hitch. However, a little after midnight it appears my range extender went belly up. I tried all the usual fixes of reboots, resets, unplug, change connections, change cables, use different ports on the switch all to no avail. It appears the range extender has died . I will get a new one tomorrow. So I have about about 450-500 results sitting on 4 machines out in the shed. They have burned entirely through their cached queues. So, my numbers will down for a bit, hopefully I will get it resolved tomorrow. Cheers Edit (June 2): New range extender due Thursday. Update: Now Saturday Cheers

When it rains it pours, isn't that a fitting motto?
----------------------------------------Got back home and didn't seem to have any issues with the Ryzen system but I bumped up the core voltage by 0.025 (1.225 now @ 4.1 ghz) to see if that gets rid of a few random errors here and there. Also added a 2nd 120mm fan to the tower heatsink to further reduce temps. Also today I'm going to mix in lots of ARP wu into the Covid wu to see how many it will run concurrently and if there are any issues. Good day [Edit 1 times, last edit by FlynRyan at Jun 2, 2020 6:28:15 PM] |

Hope you get it all working soon Joe.
New system here seems to be running flawlessly now. No more errors and it is pounding out the work. Good day |

Spring here... Pocket full of spruce buds..
My favorite recipe is just dry these, after it they get pulverized (between fingers) and create spice which I like a lot, taste is between citron and milder herbs... Goes so fine with perch or some.. https://aijaa.com/WaldfD |

Hope you get it all working soon Joe. I got the extender on Saturday, programmed it, and installed it. More than half of the stored work units turned valid or needed validation. The systems have not come back to full strength yet, somehow BOINC seems to get confused when it runs out of work and then can not contact the internet reliably. I had to completely re-install Linux on one system and the others seem to be a bit rusty with the new extender. I will do some more fiddling around with settings and see if I can get hem to run as they were before. Pulverized spruce buds eh ? Can't say i ever tried any, but now would be the season. Very interesting. Well the garden is all in and most things have now sprouted. So far the deer have not eaten anything yet. I hope the fishline fence continues to keep them out. Cheers

I seem to have the kinks worked out. All the systems appear to be finally downloading and uploading work normally.

Just when when you might think everything is back to normal(which it was for a few days), something else decides to give up. The flash drive on my X5650 machine decided it had worked long and hard enough and gave itself eternal rest. I am not sure how it happened, but it decided to become read only. In the past I have tried several different things to resurrect a drive to which this has happened to no avail. So, I did not even try with this one. Just got one of my spares, reloaded a bootable Linux version , plugged it in, reloaded BOINC and off it went again. I guess I lost about 1 to 2 days worth of work.
----------------------------------------I am hoping it rains today as it is getting awfully dry here. A nice gentle inch(2.54cm) would be nice, but anything would help. Cheers

Sorry to hear that. SSD's are cheap enough these days, and extremely reliable, so that's what I use. Not sure if I've ever had one fail. Maybe in the early days. Now, one of my systems has been upgraded to a PCIe nvme SSD, with read and write of up to 3,000 Mb/s. It was less than $70. Of course the motherboard has to have a spot for it as well. I'm not sure if any project is accelerated by extremely fast I/O, but if so, its ready for it.
