I was trying to expand my RAID to include another disk. One thing led to another and ended up having to rebuild the entire RAID and reinstall the OS> I went with Linux MINT instead of Ubuntu. I am liking it. BOINC is back up and running....

Glad you were able to get back running again. That sounds like a bit of an adventure. I have been using Linux Mint for quite some time now and I appreciate its ease of use. It is good to hear from you.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Nice of you to stop in for a chat. I just heard the governor on the radio today and he stated Minnesota had a AAA bond rating. It might depend if you are looking at either Moody's or Fitch's. Even if it is only AA+, that is better than most. Most muni bonds are pretty good, but be careful because there have been some defaults in the past in other states. I do net remember any muni bonds from here defaulting. [/url]
Cheers

Sorry to pick old posting...
I have sleep well lately, so very well...

I have not add MN bonds lately, simply since price of tool I used, has climbed so much that yield will >4%. There is some psychological boundary for me, cannot explain.
Did get little better from Transylvania, so did become my preferred choise for a while.

Yesterday, price of pan-american munibond tool did take a hike from NAV.
Price has been pretty equal with NAV for last year, last evening (9.30 a.m. EST is 16.30 p.m. here) cap did get to almost 5%.
I have been avoiding this for couple of reasons (like New Jersey and California), but I was almost able to resist yesterday.. Have a terrible buyers remorse, thing feel better when time gets 16:30 here, then probably just buy more....
Well, technically it hoovers on about AA with 5% yield....

Did return to shop equity from some time, I have bough Wells Fargo for last two days way too much what comes all eggs in one basket philosophy. Found some confort from theory that I might be basket case..

Interesting for sure. Last time when world ended (2018), panic did climb from equity to BBB bond layer, this time it seems to go a lot further....
I still plant my apple tree...

Wells Fargo has been beat up pretty well due to the scandal about all the fake accounts and the undue pressure they had on their personnel to sell services. They were fined quite a large amount concerning their past use of questionable business practices. Hopefully they have all that behind them now. They do have a nice yield of almost 5%. If they can maintain ethical business practices, they should do all right in the long run.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Ranarama,
I see you deleted your post. I read it this morning and found out the Financial Times is paywalled. I did read the article on Nordea. I found it interesting. Some bankers are fueled by greed rather than good, ethical business practices.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Ah sorry... Did have some writer remorse laughing

Couple more links...

Sad part of this (Nordic scene) is that this is last crisis allover again. When Latvia went bankrupt 2009, it did brink up some creative form of banking from these most valued names here..
Now ten year after, it seems that they were not able to learn anything...

I found comfort how Wells Fargo did handle it latest item.
Technically (I lean on what I was able to read from newspapers) it was small time petty crime, when new customer did want to open account, they did open couple more when chap left teller.
When this was discovered, they did fire C.E.O; seven member from board, some two hundred employees. So they did fix it hard and well.
Same time here on Nordic, crown jewels banks did keep opening new account for some ultra high wealth foreign (non EU) customer , who were not able to show origin of money, and did have last name like "escobar" and "corleone"...

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Back from vacation. I shut everything down before going. My main cruncher/gaming rig is dead. Won’t turn on. My other cruncher fired up fine. Will be taking it apart to see what’s up later. Ethernet jack lights up but that’s it.
