Those look like nice blueberries. Your garden or somewhere else ? Just got 2.5 in (6.35cm) of rain Friday night. Had a little wind, but not too much. The rain was well needed. My garden is looking pretty good, even though I got it in rather late, around the last week in May. Mostly I have kept the deer out, except for about a week ago. One got in and ate the tops off the beans, tomatoes and potatoes. I was not happy. I could not figure out how the deer got in. It had to be a small one based on the tracks. I decided I needed to run a couple more strands of monofilament around the garden. So far that seems to have kept the deer out. I have been picking a few zucchini when they are about 8 in( 20 cm) long. They have gone into zucchini bread and grated, have gone into the freezer. I am smart enough to only have one zucchini plant. The rest of the squash and pumpkin vines are looking good. Even though the deer ate some of the tops off of the potatoes, they are still looking good, both the Yukon gold and the purple potatoes. However I just found some potato bugs on a few, so I may have to take measures on those. If I am lucky, I may have a ripe tomato by August 1. Cheers

I visited the parents last week. Drove from Seattle to Anoka county.
----------------------------------------Drove up through Glacier. Going-to-the-Sun road was closed and had to backtrack across HWY 2. Then headed from Great falls across to Glendive. Fantastic star gazing and was able to see the comet. Continued across North Dakota and down to the twin cities. I was amazed how green everything was. All of the prairie pot holes in ND were full. In fact there was a stretch on I94 with some water on the road. On the way back we swung south to Yellowstone. What a great trip. It has been at least 10 years since I was in Minnesota in the summer time. My Daughter even go her first fishing trip in a boat with grandpa.

There are places which have had too much rain, but my area, we have had just about the right amount at the right time. The other night we had a storm move through, but there was no wind and the rain came straight down in a steady manner. We had .8 In (about 2cm). I have had to only water the garden about twice this year. Everything here is very green and growing well. Cheers

Your garden or somewhere else ? Cheers Somewhere else, from area which start from my backyard... Some technical challenges, another hotpot and W10 update.. Fixed now. I have two laptop (usually hided behind radiator or some), one with Ubunty cannot handle network change on the fly. But on another hand, it just keep running year after year if environment stable. One with W10 can handle open network (no PW&ID) change itself, but it just force update itself and reboot without asking. Boinc should be running as service for sure, but I did meet another update which did prevent autostart.. Well, both now back on line... |

The USB on Xeon 5670 has finally croaked. It had racked up a little over 80 cpu years. It changed itself into a write protected mode. I read the USB's are programmed in their firmware to do this when they have exhausted all their writes so you don't lose any data. You can still copy off any existing data to somewhere else. I will replace it later today. My production will be down a bit until that gets done. Cheers

I am back up and running on the Xeon 2670. I was out of USB sticks so I had to lay in new supply. Yesterday I found 32gb Sandisk sticks on clearance at Target for $4.88. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the cash register and they rang up at $3.75 apiece.
----------------------------------------I thought I would try a new Linux version so I am trying MXlinux. I really like Linux Mint, but sometimes change is good. I might try Puppy Linux next or Tiny Core. I will see when the next USB stick dies. I may even try LinuxFX, a version which looks and acts amazingly like Windows 10. I had an interesting experience today at one of the big box retailers ( not the aforementioned one, but one which shall remain nameless.) I went to buy a couple of oil filters because I was going to change my oil today. I know just where the oil filters are located so I bee lined for that area. (Yes, I wore a mask.) I looked on the shelf where the right filter should have been located. The shelves were a mess. My item was not there. However, I am not one to leave any stones unturned. High up on the top of the shelf in an unopened case was my filters. Any help in this place is few and far between. So I climbed the shelf, got the case and got 2 filters. I placed the others on the shelf, close to where thy belonged, so the next customer would not have to climb the shelf to get their product. So far, so good. At the front of the store they have a long row of cash registers, about 24 I think. They have 1 open. The line is about 5 deep, with the person at the front of the line checking out a huge heaping cart of items. So figure I wll just I go over to the self checkout. Unbeknownst to me, once I get there I find out none of the self checkouts take cash. So back to the one open cash register. The lady with the heaping cart is still checking out. Luckily, I am still about 5th in line. It does not take long for about 5 more people to line up behind me. I am glad I am not in a hurry. About this time, another customer with a cart attempts to jump the queue. Now we had left about the required six feet(2 meters) between us in line, so it may have appeared to this person there was no line here. When it was brought to their attention the end of line was back quite a bit further, they just stated they would not go to the back of the line because it was too far away. But he did not jump the queue. Finally, by this time, somebody in charge thought it might be a good idea to open a few more cash registers. So the gentleman headed over to one of those, as did a few others. After the lady with the heaping cart was finished, it went fairly quickly as the rest of those in front of me only had a few items. I am tempted to approach their management and make some suggestions concerning queueing theory and customer management, but maybe they are having trouble hiring both enough people and competent people, given the present virus problems. Maybe I am being too critical. I only shop this place rarely. I did get my oil changed on a pretty pleasant day, so it was not a bad day at all. Cheers

Cheers Seem like its a free for all these days, everyone looking out for themselves, and don't care about one another as our brothers and sisters. Sad to see. Good that those USB sticks are a dime a dozen, so to speak. Thanks for the story time, Joe. I have one of those electrified car thingy's, so oil changes are a thing of the past. Its very easy and low on maintenance, just charge and go. Couldn't be happier. Still just crunching away here with my 2 systems. Waiting to see if a GPU project materializes. Might invest a bit more at that time. Already have a pretty good gaming card just sitting here doing nothing most of the time. Stay safe and healthy, team. Good day |

I have seriously looked at one of "those electrified car thingy's" and am just not ready to take that plunge yet. Right now I am only filling the tank every three to four weeks, so you know I am not driving much. Maybe once this car wears out I will opt in to the electric car market. Being as it is Minnesota, the rust will probably get the car before the engine goes. Its a 2007 with 175,000 on it. I bought it used with 80,000 on it in 2011. So I am only putting about 10,000 miles a year on it. Now with the pandemic going on, I am driving even less than before. Cheers
