Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I got a surprise this morning and it wasn't the good kind. About 03:00 I heard a crash, and I got up and went to my living room. Much to my surprise, the Christmas tree had fallen over. Water everywhere. I spent a few hours pressing rags into the carpet to help soak up the water and picking up needles from the carpet. Now I have a fan running to help finish drying off the carpet. I think I will be taking a nap later.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It has been an interesting last couple of days. It got a little cold and windy and we got a bit of snow, about 5 inches(13 cm) here. The wind got a little nasty, gusting to about 25mph(40kph) with a temperature bottoming out at -16F (-27C). But it could have been worse, about 10inches (25 cm) was predicted. The whole thing left a lot of bad ice on the roads and there was quite a number of spinouts and cars in the ditch the last few days. It should warm up by Wednesday, so it will be getting better.
Hope everybody stays warm and drives safely.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Always good to hear from you. Nice picture. Hardly any snow though.

Hi Joe, hi chaps!

Sure, "another" black winter here.

Here has been two "old fashion" winter days during this year, those has been paradoxically most "warmest" days (per se).
With this I mean, on these "new normal winter" dazes, there is water raining horizontally like six Beaufort (equals 40mm on Bofors scale), so kind of get it (cold water) to every twist and south on body.. Fuk...

But when temperature get down fast and hard, then there is no wind and all... Just some odd stillness under deep blue sky with starlight...

Miss those two days for sure.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Not a black winter here. We have been on a bit of a roller coaster with the temperature fluctuating a bit. We did have our brief (1 day) midwinter thaw 45F (8C). We have about 12 inches( 30cm) of snow on the ground which has been here all winter so far. -10F (-23C) this morning. The 10 day forecast is for more of about the same, with maybe a small smattering of snow. There will be some snow coming south of us about 4 to 6 in.( 10 to 15cm) but almost nothing here. At least for the moment, the roads are good, ice free. Those kind Canadians are in charge of our weather at the present time. All in all, the winter has tended toward the milder side, but it sure can change quickly at times, so we will see what the rest of the winter brings. It does make for a nice environment for the servers I have in the shed, they like this coolness. They have been running like champs for a while.
We did have a power outage here which affected over 5000 customers, but did not affect me, thankfully. The following day we had a little blip in the power which knocked all my systems off the air for a bit, but everything came back up with no problem.
Hope you are well.
Cheers
