Since my Vista box sat this morning in the first sign in screen and did the post start up routine, it maybe done it already without my consent, though I've set it to only install and update with my permission. Did Billy G change that setting again?
----------------------------------------Need to check as 0.1 second of power out is enough to cause a system reboot, and we have those every few weeks. Time to go buy a new battery for the UPS and maybe unreservedly apologise to Billy G. ![]() Will spill the beans later if indeed it was the auto-patch pref violation again.

Yup, mine showed up before I went to bed last night, and it took a while to install, but it was successful.

The other 2 (XP) I did manually this morning. Appears to be OK. ![]() ![]() |

Looks like there is a worm already using this exploit.
http://securitylabs.websense.com/content/Alerts/3218.aspx We are pushing it out now to several hundred PCs as we speak via Patchlink. I just wish my company would consider changing to a different OS. ![]() |

Will wait for your update, Sekerob :) It was that maligned Redmondian doing it, causing 10 hours of quad idling. It was set to fetch the patches at 3 AM and saw it only at 1 PM. Sure enough it was back at auto-fetch and apply. Changed it back to manual... wait and see how long that holds. Patch was kb958644 discussed in article MS08-067. Thanks goes out to eso for warning the crowd. ![]()

It's International restart, reinstall, reformat and repartition your Windows Cruncher day.. Sincerely sorry for you, but unless we get more messages of this type it is not "International" (fortunately), it seems to be "local". At least you got the message about repartitioning... Good luck. Jean. |
