Yes, validated, sent to researchers and counted. I wish I had your optimism. And just to be clear, once again, the internal stats and the external stats are two different ball games...External sites are extracting stats but they do not show here. Krembil has awarded me no points since February 2022. I have been processing tasks and recently have received many which are being processed. When can I expect the points to be credited to my account? I don't crunch only for points, but it's nice to see a tiny payoff for all the hardware and energy costs since 2010.

erich56: I recently added another PC, and eventuelly I got some tasks. I then wanted to assign a profile to this PC, but looking up the device manager showed me that this new PC is not listet. Did you take any similar steps as outlined in this post or did you take any other steps? I am not sure which "special" steps I should have taken. I did it the same way as I had done it all the years before. Sitll, the new PC does not show up in the devices list. There is still so much going wrong with WCG. Too bad that they had left IBM. I don't think that Krembil is able to run WCG |

" I don't think that Krembil is able to run WCG"
After so many months it's shure that Kremmblin does not have the appropriate skills and resources - but it is also inconceivable that IBM charity has allowed the transfer of the WCG to Kremblin without adequate guarantees of a rapid and correct implementation - I even suspect that Krembil wants to kill slowly the searches of others independent scientific institutes to favor their own, but after that I will never make my PCs available to search for their research |

BOINC Client Work Cache Issue When Mixing CPU and GPU WUs
----------------------------------------This might be considered a BOINC client issue that requires changes to the client, but there may be ways around it. It has re-surfaced in the 2 devices I have online that have GPUs that crunch OPNG. After OPNG WUs have been successfully returned, the BOINC clients think my tired old 3770Ks have suddenly become magically fast superduper computers due to the productivity of the GPUs, so it downloads vast numbers of CPU WUs which will not complete in the time allowed. There are workarounds at this end which I was using for IBM-WCG, but I have not yet reinstated them. But it may also be possible to fix the problem at the server end, eg by adjusting things like the FPOPS value of the GPU WUs. In the months of WCG transition downtime, I crunched einstein@home work on CPUs and GPUs. They did not seem to have the excess WU download problem, but maybe I just didn't experience it because the project had a reliable stable flow of work so I ran it with short work cache settings. Update: I tried my workarounds from before but the failing downloads are making my fix irrelevant. If mostly-successful downloads from Krembil ever start happening, the easiest way to stop huge numbers of CPU WUs downloading is to use the device profiles to set the max number of outstanding WUs for every science you are crunching to a suitable number between 1 and 64, rather that the default of "infinite". Issue #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... needs to be the inability to adequately send downloads you notify clients to expect...
Whether it's bandwidth (at least to the US), processing power at the server, or "overpromising" downloads, the SYSTEM thrashes retrying, backing off, and ultimately no longer downloading anything due to one "stalled" download. Maybe the client times out too quickly to go to RETRYING (many of these are a tiny number of bytes), maybe the Internet link is congested, maybe fast-running GPU jobs overload servers, whatever. Krembil needs to understand what it looks like from this end. The website crashing and the system constipating for hours on end without any kind of acknowledgement elsewhere (i.e., Facebook) should be next in line. |
