Re: Comprehensive Issue List & Report Thread (Oct. 18, 2022)

Is the creation of new badges working?

I recently passed 30 years on the open pandemic project. The contribution page shows this, but I have not received a badge for it. Is this a known issues are am I special? biggrin

There is no 30 year badge. There is a twenty and then there is a fifty.

Ok, that would explain it. I thought there were badges every 10 years.

I guess that I am not special. sad

Re: Comprehensive Issue List & Report Thread (Oct. 18, 2022)

Dear Cyclops, since this is an issue list & report thread:

The help page on badges needs a substantial update. We can limit it now to a small update.

For one, the badge for 200 years isn't listed, it's missing. This should be a simple text fix.

Of course, there is more to be said about it, but at least without discussion, listing the badge for 200 years should be a no-brainer for your team, as the text there now reads: "recognizing higher levels of contribution of 5, 10, 20, 50 and up to 100 years of computing time".

That 200y badge is kind of an non-issue, the people that would have those are few and far between.
I still would much rather see that those old colors back (which represented much better the actual progression) then those random life-less pastel colors that are being used right now... wink

Re: Comprehensive Issue List & Report Thread (Oct. 18, 2022)

Here's a tip from BobbyB. Reduce the size of these images.
And as BobbyB also points out, It makes zero sense that almost every time I open the WCG homepage, I have to see those images load AGAIN at a snail pace. They should not have to be downloaded again.

All rather inconsequential for the overall operation. And the size of the images isn't really an issue, it has never in the past.
And while it rarely changes, what people don't seem to realize (incl. BobbyB, who ever this might be) is that the page including the pictures is a "dynamic" page, so it isn't that easy to make a determination as to download a picture again or not...

Just a note that new machines for Users aren't showing-up in the "Devices" page again as noted in this thread --> https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,44607_offset,20

@Cyclops

It might be helpful if the listing of “resolved” and “known but not yet resolved” issues in your initial posting in the forum be updated to reflect current status.

Your last edit was Nov 1st.

Perhaps a link to the newest “system status” forum might be in order? I have some other ideas as well - you have my email.
