Re: Covid-19

I wondered about switching, but there's already several prototype vaccines being tested, so I decided not to bother.

Re: New tasks

I hope everybody is well and staying safe with everything going on at the minute, at my work we are now mostly working remotely so my output will start to drop as several machines have been sent home with staff to allow them to carry on working but it also means they will be offline the rest of the time. Hopefully this doesnt last too long but we are currently planning on 3-4 months of remote working as several of us, myself included are in the high risk group so we arent taking any chances.

congrats to all that earned some badges this week and its nice seeing plenty of new work from SCC.

Re: New tasks

Like unsmurf, I hope everyone is well. It looks like I'll be getting a substantial pay cut next month to help my company survive the pandemic, so it's with a heavy heart that I've decided to hugely reduce, maybe even stop, crunching at home for the foreseeable future. The stuff I have running in the cloud will continue, and I'll probably keep a core on my NAS going, but I'm not going to set any records, that's for sure.

I hope you all stay well, and please don't take any risks.

Re: New tasks

Thanks Unsmurf,

I wish the same sentiment to all too, personally so far so good here. We're lucky enough to regularly work from home so it's probably less of a change for us. I really feel for others though.

It's always a shame to lose some crunching capacity but your output has been brilliant recently it's really lifted the teams output up. smile

Re: New tasks

Thanks Andy. I should know by the end of the week to what extent my salary will be reduced. I now have both myself and my son working from my house (we're both software developers, and he's moved in with me for the duration, due to being diabetic). My electricity bill is thus spiralling, hence stopping the crunching.

I started that post yesterday and for some reason didn't send it until I noticed it today, I suppose it can apply equally to you and unsmurf though. smile

Sorry to hear about the pay cut, fingers crossed it'll not be too bad. These times are really really crazy, there are rumours at my work too of similar actions. Maybe you can get your clever system to only run when they pay you? I'm guessing even though a lot of people are home overall the countries energy needs have lowered with various industries winding down, perhaps that'll swing the supply costs right down too?

Yes stay safe all, let's beat this thing.

Re: New tasks

Hope everyone stays safe and virus free.

As I cannot work, staying at home is nothing new to me. My wife working from home and kicking me out of our computer room is not good though. Doesn't stop me from crunching but I do have to entertain my boy all day, not an easy thing to do!
