That's where my first guess goes as well. If tests were not already run on a 680 and returned valid, knreed said they have from above, it really wouldn't have surprised me whatsoever. Don't know if code has been tweaked since previous betas, but the 680 definately did not like it. Besides the absence of FP64 (only 8 cores), the only HUGE difference that I know of, is that the scheduler is software based instead of hardware based if I'm not mistaken.
Oh well, when designing something new, invalids can lead to solutions. |

I have a 460 and 470 GTX in the same box and both are getting beta's. Each beta is using .757 cpu. Is this by design?
Also, I have boinc set to 50% of processors (i7 950-8 threads) but only 3 cpu work units are running. Is WCG disabling a core for the gpu? I have not read HCC1 GPU Testing - Round 1-3 so if this has been hashed already, point me where to go. |

The scheduler just sent me 3 more that all failed as before.

I have a GTX570 in a 6 core. The cores are all assigned to WCG CEP2 at about 80 percent utilization. Ive been getting beta's and they are running very smoothly, finishing in about 3 minutes each and no noticable lag or bog down on the system.
My card is set essentially at default, ie no overclocking or major tweaking on speeds. core 732 mhz shader 1464 mhz memory 1900 mhz Aaron |

My 680 grabbed another 4, I figured I would let them run. I cannot post results currently as stats are updating. One thing I can say, is that I watched that gpu was running at default (1110MHz) speeds for sure this time.
----------------------------------------The task stated .858 of CPU to be used, and while they were running, all other tasks suspended, the CPU used exactly 100% consistenly spread out on a number of cores or 100% on one throughout the entire task. With absolutely nothing running in background. According to system monitor only this task was taking CPU time (25), so the task was indeed using 100% and not .858. I use W7 64-bit on this rig, with the desktop background at Windows Basic to take additional load off of the GPU. As stated before, I do have Einstein running normally, and these tasks were of course suspended across the board while these Beta WU ran. Don't know if that matters, but I figured I would include the info. GPU usage, as indicated by EVGA Precision was at 97-99 while entire task was running, except for the end while WU was finishing (1 sec. mark I believe). The computer itself became very unresponsive during GPU use, meaning mouse would take long to drag, as well as other on screen visuals, such as moving screen around page. I expect some lagging, but since I run GPU apps on other projects, I personally thought this was a little much. Figured I would include said information. Once the stats have finished updating, I will report back results, even though I am expecting invalids, just like before. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 17, 2012 1:13:00 AM] |

My ATI 6950 is crunching these around 3:40. Maxed out my settings and dropped the time to 3:20. Keep them coming.

165 + tasks completed without errors on 5 PCs / 6 GPUs all OCd to max
----------------------------------------When I saw the release I freed a CPU core on all the PCs. 1) i7 Win7 x64 2 x GTX570 = 170sec 2) Core2 Quad WinXP32 1 x HD6750 = 400sec 3) Core2 Duo WinXP32 1 x HD5850 = 188sec 4) Core2 Duo WinXP32 1 x GTX560ti = 244sec 5) Core2 Duo WinXP32 1 x GTX550ti = 422sec My main concern is the 40% GPU time wasted when the GPU is idle on both Nvidia & ATI Edit: There is a BIG improvement on the PC's mouse response since the last batch [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 17, 2012 1:25:02 AM] |

Copycat, if you happened to notice, how did yours run, meaning was it CPU briefly->GPU usage->CPU to close? Curious to see how the 5xx on the NVIDIA ran. My 680 used a full 100% core entire time WU was running, as well as 97-99% of GPU.

My 680 used a full 100% core entire time WU was running, as well as 97-99% of GPU. Same here - 100% cpu full time on ATI & Nvidia Just the GPU drop to zero 40% of the time |

Ah, just making sure. As expected after first 4 I received, got like 12 maybe, (deselcted GPU for now on WCG), all became invalid. One of the interesting things that I noticed though, was that the value "Kernel Execution Timeout" on someone's 570 was false, while on my 680, the value was true.
----------------------------------------I know there MANY more differences than that between the different series, but, figured I'd post it for what it's worth. Also, knreed, unless the coding has been changed inbetween batches, the ONLY difference that I could think of for why a 680 worked before, would be if they were using the driver that came with the disk 301.00 maybe?, or 300.xx. I looked at NVIDIA's website, and this driver is not even listed as one of their legacy drivers for that card, meaning, that driver can ONLY be used with that disk. If this is the case, let me know and I can try that driver to see if anything changes. Im assuming you have the ablity to filter by card, if not let me know and I will post all Betas that I worked on with this card. Again, good luck.
