No, you wouldn't
I had a chilling hardware task today - ex used to be hardware but now he's ex They upped the speed of the mobile broadband I use - and I could aquire a new modem at $US 0.25 from them. Did, and had the box sitting a while. Opened it. It did NOT contain a snake. Looked at it and closed the lid. Well, after a while I asked them, and got a reply I could use. Did a test run - on laptop. It worked! Proceeded to PC .... What a relief. If I should go without my Internet ... unthinkable You'll be fine, mon ehemaliger Capitano ![]() |

Do you Base Campers go back to camp periodically just to do laundry and stock up on provisions?
----------------------------------------And where is your camp located, at the base of what? And how is it that you get to go camping as much as you like, don't you have a job? Families? Pets? And what is it about sleeping in a tent that is so attractive? And is the color of your tent determined by your BOINC rank? Or is that little Ruby red tent an outhouse?

----------------------------------------Wash!!!!!! How dare you suggest such a thing sir! And where is your camp located, at the base of what? Big mountain, look at the sig. And how is it that you get to go camping as much as you like, don't you have a job? Families? Pets? Some do, some dont, we are all mad. And what is it about sleeping in a tent that is so attractive? A very good question RCC, I think its different for everyone, for me its the fresh air, new camp grounds, and wild animals all around. And is the color of your tent determined by your BOINC rank? Or is that little Ruby red tent an outhouse? I dunno! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As a kid I spent my summers sleeping in a tent in my backyard or one of my friends backyards.(No we were not smoking, drinking beer, or vandalizing the neighborhood. Well, maybe we were.)
----------------------------------------I was an Explorer and have camped out in many a woods. We were trapped for a few days by a blizzard, and we were staying in a cabin with daylight showing through the walls. More daylight than walls. There was a wood stove that when glowing orange would warm only your side facing it, everything else was freezing cold. There were not enough sleeping bags or blankets to stay warm so the nights were very unpleasant. It was impossible to sleep so we stayed up all night. During the day we just stomped around in the snow, there was nothing else to do. And when I got older I took up deer hunting and would get up an hour before the sun. Wander into the woods in the dark hoping to find my favorite tree. Then climb that tree in the rain or snow or dark or cold or any combination. And sit there waiting while the snow piled up, the rain froze on the tree limbs. my fingers and toes went numb, and my thermos ran out of coffee. Watching bobcats, wild hogs, and birds play. Once in a while a deer would wander by and see me first or I would see it first. Any deer I saw first made great deer sausage. After the sun went down and it was dark I would wander back to the cabin where it was just as cold as the tree. When my stomach started growling it was time for some camp food. Did you ever cook a deer on a Weber grill? Well, part of a deer? One of the best deer hams ever was made on a Weber. Then on a tiny bench in a room with no heat enjoy a meal. Then sleep in a cabin with no heat. And then do it all again the next day. Now that was fun!

There is no crying in camping or deer hunting. On September 6, 2011 I was the team and there were 2 retired members. Having 10 members is great and I would expect to have people notice us because of all the chatter on this forum. You are quite a publicist yourself; if you charged for all of the hoopla and fanfare you create you would never have to work again. Well whatever it was the visitors said, I didn't do it. At the time, I was busy throwing tomatoes at police cars.

In the Explorers we would get someone to buy us beer or wine and we would party hearty. Nothing like a hangover from scouting. Campers and pop-ups are very popular with hunters. It is difficult to find a used camper in this area because hunters buy them all, regardless of condition. In this part of the world everyone old enough to shoot hunts. So if you want a camper it has to be a new one.

There is no crying in camping or deer hunting. I could camp anywhere (almost - don't put me on a ledge) without crying - but I never got hunting - is it some basic instinct surving in spite of Aldi and Piggly Wiggly? <snip> At the time, I was busy throwing tomatoes at police cars. - who would'ave thought, rcc? There is an almost Finnish wild strike to you |
