Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

yes at this time survivors is the team of my choice.... this is the 3rd team I have been in...

right now i have 3 computers (total of 5 cores) there is one more computer that I have scraped parts from to get another computer back... so right now i have a computer with no HD or power supply

I am a survivor from thyroid cancer (2 types) and have many other issues but i shall survive and i shall crunch

nasher,
Glad you picked us as your team, you are always welcome here.

I have 3 computers online and two offline; one won't boot and one won't connect to the network. Neither is worth fixing so I ordered a replacement combo and the parts started arriving today. My first build. One of the online PCs does not hyper thread so I bought an upgrade CPU and hope to get that running in the next couple of weeks.

I am a 2x 11 years bilateral renal cell carcinoma (RCC) survivor. Not everyone on the team has had serious illness so I am working on a list of "I survived" accomplishments to post. It seems I have survived a lot more than cancer and I expect that team members have some "I survived" moments too. Of course sharing those moments is optional.

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

i Survived

20 years Navy any Veteran survived

Otosclerosis in both ears had stapes pistons installed to restore most of my hearing

i am now 1 1/2 years survivor of thyroid cancer both papillary and follicular in separate areas of the thyroid, and had all of my thyroid removed (requiring daily replacement pills) and one round of Radioactive Iodine

I also have been suffering from both vertigo and dizziness for over 1 year now (they are different trust me)

they have determined I have a 2.2 by 2 by 1.4 cm cyst in my brain and they think this is the cause of the dizziness and they think one of the stapes pistons may be the cause of the vertigo.

when they took out my thyroid they also took out 2 of 4 of my parathyroids so I have to be on supplements for that.

I also have had 3 lipoma's removed from my back.
I also have lots of other issues that i have been dealing with.

I do not mind explaining or talking about any of my conditions or chatting about any medical issues

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

Nasher,
Truly sorry that you are still dealing with those problems.
That's a lot to deal with and I am certain that there are many people on WCG that have no idea how important crunching is to some of us.
I lost my mother to breast cancer.
Have a lot of family and friends touched by cancer.
It would be great if this research could identify some information that would unlock the door to why cells fail to divide and die normally.

Being a Navy veteran I would like to hear some stories about your Navy days.

I'm sorry but I have so little time to stay on the forum.
I have a day job and there is a lot going on after work.
I also use Twitter and Facebook for recruiting new crunchers.
Hope to spend more time on the forum over the holidays.

We are very happy to have you join our team.

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

Here it is after 11:00 PM and I am just getting to look at the forum.

I have everything for the build except the additional 8GB RAM, which I expect Friday.

About the Baklava, no I didn't eat the whole thing.
I decided to try the Orange Blossom with Chocolate Drizzle, it was excellent, highly recommended.

I will try to get an earlier start tomorrow.

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

I hope you'll have a nice Thanksgiving toying with the computer parts
ready to install the RAMs as soon as the UPS guy arrives.
You even have candy to spare! How disciplined!
No way for me. The whole thing has to go
- the only way to discipline is not to buy, which I am disciplined enough to most of the time ...

Today I lost it. Bought a box of Grapes in Muscat

angel but only to share while watching The Tin Drum at German class
because: You Can Never Be Too Generous as this little commercial shows
