90% is indeed quite a jump in runtime. Just found it a little strange that there was no explanation for the increase in runtime which is unusual for the WCG forums. If it is for load balancing then that's fine, doesn't really affect my crunching. To be honest I don't really mind why, was just curious as to why these increases have been put in place.

When I ran GFAM, the work units were taking an average of 12+ hours on my I7 (14+ hours on my quad), so a 90% increase on them would make them real monster work units for me
---------------------------------------- (assuming the average time to complete one didn't decrease since I finished on the project to now).Glad I've completed my personal goal for GFAM , I do dislike very long work units ![]() ![]() ![]() |

From the answer I got from the techs it is, as jonnieb thought, to help with load balance on the WCG servers and to also crunch more data in each unit.
----------------------------------------I am still waiting to pick up a GFAM unit since this increase, I think my last lot were around the 10 hour mark to do so am interested to see what my machine will do with these new units if they do really have a 90% increase in RT. I don't mind long units, it the checkpoints that are the pain, CEP2 being a case in point with some checkpoints being 5 hours apart on my machine. |

There's quite a change in the UK team pecking order for the current month!
---------------------------------------- Barnsley_Tatts & gordoma have muscled their way in to consideration and Mike D Green may yet come into the final reckoning with 5 days of crunching left.Member Name Jul Aug +/-Provisional figures based on monthly RT to 26/08. |

CfSW is now back up for those of us trying to get their next badge before it ends (approx. 25 days left)
----------------------------------------Thanks to a 3-day buffer and by suspending all WUs in the troubled batches I've managed to continue crunching this project without losing any completed WUs to error or server aborts. Ruby beckons... |

Typical Bank Holiday Weather yesterday
---------------------------------------- so it's good to see the UK team put the time to good use and crunched away to our second best AllTime performance! 06/08/2012 0:294:23:24:46 1,066,556 2,776 27/08/2012 0:284:15:06:02 1,042,835 1,819 ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Aug 28, 2012 7:51:50 AM] |

Typical Bank Holiday Weather yesterday GREAT WORK TEAM! so it's good to see the UK team put the time to good use and crunched away to our second best AllTime performance! 06/08/2012 0:294:23:24:46 1,066,556 2,776 27/08/2012 0:284:15:06:02 1,042,835 1,819 Due to being one of the few people still crunching through CfSW yesterday, my stats look a little on the weak side as most of my results are pending verification from a Wingman. Seems that things are picking up now as I've done more in the first half of today than I did for the whole of yesterday: 08/28/2012 0:004:12:51:39 13,837 111 08/27/2012 0:003:00:04:55 8,989 71 Might end up being a record day for me today? |
