Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

As our favourite North Pole Sea Ice Monitoring site has just closed

http://www.ijis.iarc.uaf.edu/en/home/seaice_extent.htm is no more sad

Here's a replacement

https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/vishop-monitor.html?N smile

Not having much luck getting a good response from NOAA's web pages at the moment. They are very sluggish and I am not getting the full range of the 2438 weather stations every hour

I'll have a look at alternate ways to work around the problem this weekend

It's making a right mess of it biggrin

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Redesigned the global thermometer

Hopefully more reliable despite the slowing performance from NOAA

I'll get back to you on February's figures once I have made the best of the temperature data that I have collected

the big dips in the graph just above are not real. Just an artifact of the missing data.

Yours stubbornly persistent

Dave

Watch this

and come back to me if you think we really have a problem

The BBC at it's finest .. propagandist

How much homogenisation, extrapolation, alteration and biases can you have before the end result is meaningless?

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

So.... slightly later than usual due to a technical hitch causing NOAA's web pages to be less responsive than normal (probably due to the lousy February being experienced across the pond, putting extra stress on the servers to meet demand for weather info) this required some extrapolation to be applied to just over a week of data

The February result is in and the average temperature from 2438 NOAA Weather Stations around the Globe was 2.224C - the coldest February in the series and colder than the preceding January for the first time

The average temperature March 2014 through to the end of February 2015 was 12.517C

Here's another forum friendly sized graph that updates hourly

The graphs above are (at this moment in time) the result of 90,958,558 individual temperature measurements taken around the Globe from (the same set of) NOAA Weather Stations since the beginning of 2011 cool

All in my database that I definitely won't lose smile

Here's to a lovely spring turning up soon rose (In the Northern Hemisphere)
