Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Hi Gerald

It's all about Paris in December. (better in Spring Time)

The fearmongering will ramp up throughout the year until the ink dries

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_United_Nations_Climate_Change_Conference

The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP21 or CMP11 will be held in Paris, France in 2015. The international climate conference will be held at the Le Bourget site from 30 November to 11 December 2015. The conference objective is to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, from all the nations of the world.

After which the "Scientists" will have served their purpose

No amount of contrary evidence will be entertained by this bunch

That the Earth isn't warming and will likely cool in the near future matters not one iota

Maybe the World isn't warming because the facts are cold and hard

New Nuclear Power won't address the shortfall created directly as a result of legislation written off the back of "Climate Change"

I'll say again ... the lights will go out

UK opted-out plant of the Large Combustion Plant Directive
The nine opted-out generating stations supplying the National Grid are:

Station (MW) Closure date
Grain 1300 December 2012
Kingsnorth 1940 December 2012
Didcot 'A' 1940 March 2013
Cockenzie 1152 March 2013
Fawley 990 March 2013
Ferrybridge 980 (half) March 2014
Ironbridge 970
Tilbury 1037 August 2013
Littlebrook 1245 March 2015
Total 11550MW

In the last few years Trawsfynned, Hunterston A, Sizewell A, Calder Hall, Chapelcross, Dounraey, Dungeness A, Berekeley, Hinkley Point A. Bradwell-on-Sea Nuclear Stations have all come to the end of their power producing period of their lives

Taking with them 3916MW

and Hinkley Point B, Hartlepool, Hunterston B and Heysham 1 are limping on on about 70% output . Dungeness B looks set to follow them

Ironbridge will close at the end of 2015 as will the final reactor at Wylfa

7GW of Gas Power Stations have been built and commissioned since the start of this thread and the intermittent wind turbines

Around 17GW of Electricity generating potential has been lost

I wish Amber Rudd well in her new Challenge as Minister of the Department of Energy and Climate Change (Only in the UK!!)

Might I suggest Amber more of those efficient clean and safe CCGT type Power Stations that are quick to build and don't need taxpayer underwritten business plans to make a profit or leave a radioactive legacy for our descendants

p.s. there's plenty of gas available for many many generations to come ... in the UK

Otherwise one cold still night this winter and

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Today I decided to retire my 2 machines...the oldest ones, that were a heavy spenders!

The bill from electricity came...extra 250€, for 6months 500Wh for powering 9 computers! :/
It was just too much & not so efficient! ;)

Scientists Launch Investigation into Climate Data “Adjustments”

A team of top scientists and experts is launching a major inquiry into the integrity, or lack thereof, of the surface temperature data often cited by anthropogenic (man-made) global-warming theorists to justify their alarmism, the Global Warming Policy Foundation announced on April 26. Minor increases in the world’s surface temperature data, which is admittedly “adjusted” by governments for various reasons, has been key to demanding global policies restricting carbon emissions and economic freedom to supposedly fight climate change ever since the man-made “global cooling” theory imploded after its heyday in the 1970s. However, if the inquiry ends up confirming widely held suspicions that the warming data is inaccurate or even outright fraudulent, the entire climate-alarmism industry could be permanently crushed.

If Amber Rudd continues with her sensible head on and cancels Hinkley Point she will be an all time super hero

A further 1GW of UK Power Generation being switched off next year after the 1st GW was turned off due to the LCPD last year

It's OK though as there's a new 68MW station there burning what smells like old rubber tyres d oh
