Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Gerald have read through this

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2014/08/18/w...ts-elderly-nuclear-plants

In each of these stories there's always this form of words ..in this case

"Closing the older nuclear plants is not an option for many EU countries, which are facing an energy capacity crunch as other types of plant are being closed or mothballed because they can’t cover their operating costs, or to meet stricter environmental regulation."

We have freely legalised ourselves into having to keep frankly ancient Nuclear Power Stations with their inherent risks running because of ..... the terrifying consequences of Carbon Dioxide.

http://jme.bmj.com/content/early/2014/05/20/medethics-2013-101716

First sentence of abstract

Through the use of assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs), multiple children are born adding to worldwide carbon emissions

It goes on take a look

From their about us

Journal of Medical Ethics is a leading international journal that reflects the whole field of medical ethics. The journal seeks to promote ethical reflection and conduct in scientific research and medical practice.

Yet considers it ethical to equate this wonder of childbirth in terms of CO2 emissions

I hold them (you know who I mean) entirely responsible

This is a slippery slope we stand on

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

http://www.edfenergy.com/energy/power-station/daily-statuses

That's half of Dungeness B off-air which has tripped as a result of a transformer fault

The other half of Dungeness B is running at a reduced output as a result of a boiler pump fault (They've probably isolated the affected Boiler - so not so much water to boil)

Currently 1/2 of Hunterston B 1/2 of Dungeness B all of Hartlepool and all of Heysham 1 off-air

The Off-Air Stations are consuming 59MW running the pumps to keep themselves cool

Maybe if we wait a little bit longer my hope for a Nuclear Power Station Free UK might come true of it's own accord.

It will get warmer one day honest it will ... promise

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-28870988

In the meantime despite the lack of it, well by now you know what is justified in its name. If you don't ...see above

We are suffering through an unprecedented alarming outbreak of normalness - I mean what did you expect ??

Have a look in the mirror and repeat the following - "We've been had" It will make you feel better biggrin

Our climate is so interwoven with a myriad of variables and interactions there's no way we can attribute its perturbations to our tiny contribution towards an atmospheric trace gas

No way at all - not given our current understanding and calculating ability.

The sooner this is admitted to the better.

The new European rules are part of the EU's energy efficiency directive, designed to help tackle climate change.

God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

The boats name is Serenity

I chose Courage in this case
