----------------------------------------UK's future climate to be all sorts British winters are likely to become milder and wetter like the last one but cold spells still need to be planned for, says the UK Met Office. Summers are likely to be hotter and drier, but washouts are still on the cards, it adds. ...so for Residents of this green and pleasant land...just like we've always known it to be. Last September 21, as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is "falling off a cliff." One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years.
----------------------------------------Seven years from now. From Al Gore's (and IPCC's) Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/...2007/gore-lecture_en.html Here we are 7 years later and according to http://www.ijis.iarc.uaf.edu/en/home/seaice_extent.htm there is 20.13% more Sea Ice at the North Pole at minima than in 2007. In the intervening years only 2009 has a greater extent on this day of the year . The North Polar Ice Cap floats on the Sea and is a more dynamic environment than the continental ice sheet of the South Pole and as such is more affected by the weather especially the Wind. A heavy storm around the time of the minima can have huge effects as the ice is dispersed. Today at the North Pole, according to the Jaxa website, there are 4,884,120 square kilometres of Ice which is just over the size of 20 United Kingdom's (at least for today anyway) This could hardly be described as "completely gone" Globally the Sea Ice anomaly is today positive to the tune of 197,000 sq kms (compared to the average 1979-2008) ![]() http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGE...ly.ice.area.withtrend.jpg This is Climate Reality Mr Gore. Sometimes Folks the things you are told and think are correct are not so Keep questioning - this is the scientific approach Keep questioning why Dave ![]() [Edit 5 times, last edit by David Autumns at Sep 18, 2014 6:57:05 AM] |

----------------------------------------You'll be OK all you have to do is stop exporting that permanent 2GW you send across la Manche everyday to Lydd https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/electricity/transmis...ectricity-interconnectors The interconnect to France is supposed to be bi-directional but it runs just one way The Interconnect from the Netherlands shut down the other day maybe they are beginning to curb their exports as a result of supply. That one used to bring 1GW to us on a bi-directional ..one way link See http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ Compare that to your own http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/france/ Just turn down the European exports Our lights will go out this year Have you seen the list of our Nuke stations that are now running on reduced load or shut down Just 2 fully operational, Sizewell B and Hinkley Point B (which has always run on reduced load due to unexpected corrosion in the CO2 circulation channels) http://www.edfenergy.com/energy/power-station/daily-statuses Safe as houses...... not ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David Autumns at Sep 20, 2014 11:44:39 PM] |
