Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Just received the Electricity Bill hypnotized

The 8 Core FX-8150 that was ticking over at 4Ghz

Will now be ticking over at 0Hz until the extra warmth is sorely needed again

You should never say stuff like this

Today (in the UK) it's as cold and damp as the last week in October

32Ghz is back on line

It's a bad as saying the North Polar Ice Cap is looking peachy. You can guarantee the next day great chunks of it will have disappeared biggrin

Sekerob you really should read your post complete with enormous graphic nearly 5 years later

https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead,27654_offset,0#253049

Where is that line this year?

Note my first post still holds water - ever more so

It was supposed to be closed in 2009 will now be kept running until 2024

By which time [Hartlepool] will be 55 years old. I mean it's not looking tired and old at all !!

10 more years what could possibly go wrong??

....

The electricity company EDF has temporarily shut down two of its nuclear power stations, Heysham 1 and Hartlepool.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-28738074

(Not to mention Hunterston and Dungeness have reactors off-line/tripped

Heysham 1 is the drab old thing, like Hartlepool. hiding behind Heysham 2

It's the top of the Sea Wall

Behind me was Morecambe Bay

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

With Heysham 1 and Hartlepool shut down and half of Hunterston B, where I was last week, these 2 1/2 UK Nuclear Power Stations are consuming 84MW of power from the UK National Grid to keep themselves cool so they don't become like Fukushima Daiichi

See http://www.edfenergy.com/energy/power-station/daily-statuses only Wylfa is not on this list as it is being run by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority http://magnox.nuclearsite.co.uk/remit yep the NDA !

This is OK as it has happened in Summer but as the LCPD takes it's toll http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Combustion_Plant_Directive (Add one half of Ferrybridge to this list as it shut down in March this Year)

The UK is likely to have a shortfall in generating capability during this coming Winter (i.e. the lights will go out)

Now if we don't have enough supply and we had to shut down Nuclear Power Stations like the 2 long past their sell by date stations above have had to be... in the middle of Winter on a cold still night (No Solar No Wind Turbines turning) .....Let's just hope they have sufficient on-site generating capability to keep cool while the rest of us just sit in the dark

Think I'm scaremongering?

https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/ofgem-publications/7...ssessment-report-2013.pdf

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19842401

This is what I have been trying to point out all along.

It's been clear for the last 7 years that we would get to this point

Can we build new Coal or Gas power stations in the UK ... No (see first post in this thread)

Are Nuclear Power Stations now perceived to be greener than a cucumber and guacamole dip served on a bed of freshly mown grass? .... insanely it would appear ....Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How has this happened?

Ask your anti-CO2 Warmist who has infiltrated every level of the political system and media such that it's not politically correct to own another opinion on this Island of ours how this has happened.

I hold them entirely [ir]responsible

We have a Government Department called The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC)

Keeping Crunching while I still can

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

One Month to go Mr Gore

Last September 21, as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is "falling off a cliff." One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years.

Seven years from now.

nearly there

"unprecedented distress"

http://www.smh.com.au/national/a-climate-of-despair-20140813-102r1w.html

Have they any idea of the damage they have done with their "The End is Nigh" prognostications

Any idea at all ?

...the faulty boiler(s) are inside the pressure vessel surrounding the core

(+ in) as each year goes by the graphite moderator becomes less dense

http://newsroom.edfenergy.com/News-Releases/I...ed-Reactors-AGRs-2ba.aspx

The temporary outages at Heysham 1 and Hartlepool should be a permanent ones with a view to having them all shut down by 2023
