This is always the language used in defense of Nuclear

Given that the Globe isn't warming it's indefensible

The thermometers don't lie

SURE! "Its indefensible" and more over they recognize that there is no
safe solution to dispose of the deadly nuclear waste!
Thks David for these interesting pages u posted in yr answer.EDF is not so much transparent in France with 58 reactors (12 have been stopped and 9 in gradual dismantling for 10 years )
The "authorities" here are aiming to authorize the 30 years old reactors o work for 10 years more.
The question of eliminating or securing the waste is still open.
I dont think they will renounce the revenues of export but better squeeze the domestic market and bring assuaging political explanations as usual
EDf is asking 7pc increase in tariff for 2015

No worries alged

It's the hidden info I want to make public. You can't make a judgement one way or the other without being informed.

I put the links here, people know my opinion, but hopefully well... who knows.

My friends and family are shocked at the number of aging Nuclear Power Stations we have in the UK as I have been around visiting them in recent years. And equally shocked when you tell them how many Coal Power Stations have been closed in the last 3 years

2 more for the full set I hope to post about Trawsfynydd soon.

How many of your Nuclear Power Stations are Graphite Moderated?

Dave

Those that can watch this should

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04htvcf...and-lincolnshire-22092014

The first part is about Drax Power Station conversion to burning wood pellets from American forests

9 million tonnes of wood a year

1 tonne of trees every 3.5 seconds

Hi David in answer to yr question
the 9 UNGG reactors have been stopped in early nineties and are in phase of dismantlement (ending in 2036) and generating 23000 tons of radioactive waste

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

another antagonism:

2014 Arctic sea ice minimum sixth-lowest on record

Sea ice in the Arctic continued its below-average trend this year as ice declined to its annual minimum. Meanwhile, in Antarctica, sea ice was at a record high.
herefrom EarthSky.org

and they present some explanations:
quotes:

//While summer sea ice has covered more of the Arctic in the last two years than in 2012’s record low summer, this is not an indication that the Arctic is returning to average conditions, Meier said. This year’s Arctic sea ice minimum extent remains in line with a downward trend; the Arctic Ocean is losing about 13 percent of its sea ice per decade.//

//According to NASA, this trend toward increasing sea ice in Antarctica is “not unexpected” under conditions of global warming.//

//The overall trend of sea ice expansion in the Antarctic is only one-third of the magnitude of the decrease in Arctic sea ice.//

we stay a be confused at least ,don't we ??

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Alged they say my type are in denial biggrin

Global Sea Ice is 295,000 sq kms ...positive against the average 1979-2008

So the increase at the south pole is definitely cancelling out any reduction in the north

There's more Sea Ice at the North Pole than in any year bar 2009 since Al Gore's "failing off a cliff 2007" (which was exceeded in 2012). The North Pole is simply a more dynamic environment (wider swings) as the Ice Cap floats on the Sea is it subject to stormy winds - so..weather has a big effect year by year

All evidence pre the satellite era of 1979 to date shows a similarly changing North Pole

Best page on the Internet for info on the Polar Ice Caps is

http://wattsupwiththat.com/reference-pages/sea-ice-page/

But the warmists would have this site deemed as unscientific despite it presenting just the facts

....

In another note 7 out of 15 EDF's UK Nuclear Reactors are off-air this morning with one on load load refuelling. Nearly half EDF's fleet of ancient UK Nukes are not producing power ... they are taking it

Facts

looking pretty much back on track
