Meat consumption needs 50% reduction to meet climate change target, says researcher Meat consumption would need to be reduced by 50% per person in order to meet nitrous oxide reduction targets set out in an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) draft report, according to a new study.
----------------------------------------The research, led by Dr. Eric Davidson and published in Environmental Research Letters, examines the challenge of stabilizing nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions by 2050 â the most aggressive reduction scenario outlined in the IPCC draft report . Unlike the two most prevalent greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (COâ) and methane (CHâ), N2O is a critical element in food production. Its main sources are manure and synthetic fertilizers. http://www.foodnavigator-usa.com/Science/Meat..._medium=RSS%2Bfeed&ut |

Yesterday we were inundated by drought in the UK
----------------------------------------Gallons of the stuff falling out of the sky in between the Sunshine. In the good old days they used to be called April Showers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_showers_(weather_phenomenon) Now let me see what month is this ? - Clearly an unmitigated Man Made Climate Catastrophe is unfolding around us we must bring our economies to a standstill to ward this off. If we don't ....think of our children - Sorry but that deserves nothing but this smiley -> ![]() ![]() |

----------------------------------------All you have to do in the UK to get a big laugh is say "Drought" I've been in the parched dry dust filled basin district, formally know as the Lake District, today wandering lonely under a cloudless sky. It's tinder dry - all it will take is a carelessly discarded match and the whole lot will go up as you can see ![]() Just noticed the Glacier that gouged that out has GONE ![]() That shiny strip in the distance is Lake Windermere , the largest lake in England. Full of Ducks just padding around on rock hard mud Not sure what might be causing the reflection here ![]() ![]() Check it out on Google Maps http://maps.google.com/?ll=54.457217,-3.09406...0.066047&t=h&z=15 Dave ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by David Autumns at Apr 24, 2012 10:44:34 PM] |
