The propaganda onslaught is ramping back up again.

The USA has had an extraordinary March and the UK hasn't been much different

The key word here being extraordinary

Nevertheless we have

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

To Fight Warming, Brits Plan to Launch a Huge Balloon and Really Long Pipe When most people think of simulating a volcano, they think of baking soda, vinegar, and third grade science fair projects. A team of British researchers are thinking more along the lines of a giant balloon the size of a soccer stadium and a 12-mile garden hose that can pipe chemicals into the stratosphere to slow global warming. And they’re planning to test their hypothesis soon, sending a scaled down version of their sky-hose-balloon-thing skyward in the next few months.

It’s a pretty audacious attempt at geo-engineering, and one that very well might not work. The idea is to mimic the effect that volcanoes have when they erupt, pumping all kinds of particulate matter into the stratosphere that helps reflect solar radiation back into space. And while using a balloon and a long stretch of hose to create an artificial volcano may sound a bit “mad scientist,” the UK government is on board, putting more than $2.5 million behind the project. The Royal Society is backing this. http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1PQj4k/www.pops...themselves-skin?cmpid=tw/

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Are they still proceeding with the Hosepipe and Balloon experiment..only in the UK - so that's another £2.5 million that could be applied usefully elsewhere

I dropped by to share this

It's like watching a full motion Van Gogh

Think the World will notice the English and their hosepipe. Have no fear it will be scuppered by this http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2012-03-28/countdown-to-hosepipe-ban/

LOL

incidentally when it comes to water in this area of the UK the whole place is essentially a sponge that has been artificially drained - think the Netherlands with less effort http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fens

The guy from Anglia Water gives his we are all doomed speech from in front of a full reservoir

They must think we are stupid ... and we probably are

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

My fellow Countrymen have developed some kind of collective insanity

The Fuel Truck drivers that deliver Petrol and Diesel to our Petrol Stations have threatened to go on strike

So despite the fuel price being £1.42 a litre you would think we might never have the stuff again.

Cars queing down the roads outside of petrol stations. And Petrol Stations closed as they are out of fuel

Instead of collectively protesting the enormous amout of fuel duty and VAT on our Petrol

....they queue up for more

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

For this years Earth Hour I have fired up my latest cruncher

I finally went for the FX8150

8 Cores all running OC'ed at 4.2Ghz in the Asus Sabertooth Motherboard. It has a 125W TDP but later models will be more efficient.

Being able to utilise electricity in the way will be something that will have to be fought for in the future. A future not too far away.

A note to all those who think we need to turn all the lights off and sit in the dark.... look this graph straight in the eye http://arctic-roos.org/observations/satellite...images/ssmi1_ice_area.png and tell me that the Sea Ice at the North Pole isn't today above average

Yep you read that right it is above average

Others will tell you it is in inexorable decline. Me? I'll tell you the truth
