Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Hi Gerald after our Chancellor's Budget yesterday I think civil unrest come August is now inevitable with a 3.6p/litre increase in fuel duty(+VAT) on the cards. It will be the straw that broke the back of the camel

Followed shortly by the lights going out as the Large Combustion Plant Directive takes hold.

It takes real genius to destroy an economy but that mission is just about acomplished

I just don't understand the reasoning--from what i am reading they want to take us back 200 years. I think you are right there comes a point where someone has to take a real stand--over here the govt. is destroying our economy

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Hi Gerald

Today the news is that, on average, across the Nation the price of Petrol/Gasoline has just passed £1.40 a litre

http://news.sky.com/home/business/article/16194907

At today's exchange rate that is $8.41 / gallon us

and they still want to add a further 3.6p per litre in fuel duty and vat to that price in August making it the equivalent today of $8.63/gallon us

This while we pay twice the price in the USA for Electricity.

The cheapest I can find tonight is £1.37-9/litre

...and the justification for these taxes.....
