Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Gerald I wrote as much to my MP.

Their responsibility is to provide fuel and heating for the populace at the least cost. We have just discovered enough gas resource to power the UK for the next 200 years right on our doorstep.

He wrote back

"You would probably be right if you took the view that burning carbon doesn't matter at all but successive governments have (I believe rightly) taken a different view."

that different view is squeeze your citizens until they break.

Burning Carbon is what put the original Great in Britain

That Greatness is being sloughed away daily with exquisite craftsmanship.

Watch that it doesn't happen to you dear Citizen of the Globe

oh dear oh dear oh dear, this can't be right

Gerald we knew all it would take would be patience

Ah inexorable decline you just can't beat it

the arctic death spiral... uncoils

wink

The awesome power of a 0.039365% concentration of CO2 in our atmosphere.

terrifying biggrin

LOL its amazing what a little patience will produce--

It's amazing how far you can extrapolate lunacy

You could always print that out and wallpaper your bathroom. Think of all the insulation it would provide. tongue

Where in the world did you get this rot from?? IMHO David Frame, Emily Boyd, Tom Douglas, Wibke Gruetjen, and audiences at the
Oxford University James Martin 21st Century Advanced Research Seminar, the University of Reading
Philosophy Society, and the Northeastern University 2011 Workshop in Applied Philosophy all need a frontal lobotomy ---

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Greetings World I have just been watching episode 2 of the BBC's fantastic so far Orbit Programme

I was so happy when they made it through the first hour explaining the complexities of our Planet's climate and ecosystems driven by our yearly travel around our local Star without mentioning MMGW once

Episode 2 started in the same vein showing the various lags built into the system through water's specific heat capacity, our elliptical orbit and the long climate cycles and ices ages caused by the changes in orbit, and the tilt of the Planet while they roamed about the planet demonstrating these various phenomena through evidence such as the stalactites in the Blue Hole of Belize http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Blue_Hole which proves that the Sea level was 120m below it's current level on account of the last ice age depositing that water as a solid on Land.

awesome

and then 57 mins and 12 seconds into the second of the 1 hour episodes...

While standing on the North Polar Sea Ice in March Kate Hamble, as BBC's presenter, denies all of the evidence she has seen that our Planet's Climate is driven by the Sun and distributed by the water cycle and speaks to camera and utters the line.

"The area covered by Sea Ice has shrunk significantly over the last 20 years. A series of warm winters have meant that the sea's haven't cooled down as much as normal, so not as much ice has been able to form. There's little doubt that the cause of the warmer winters ....is us"

And there it was followed up with "Global Warming.... yadda yadda yadda

and all the great work is undone in showing Joe Public what an amazing Planet we live on by the BBC's ideology as the Government supported Climate Propaganda Machine

Because in that science program that statement just isn't true. The Sea Ice has increased significantly since the measured minima of 2007

Just look at where the North Polar Sea Ice level is at the moment in the graph on this page http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icecover.uk.php

That's truth and that's science.

I should have expected it, why else would the BBC produce such a wonderful programme... I knew it was coming but I was so disappointed when it arrived. I did have high hopes that truth might prevail.. just once.

sad

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Hard on the heels of genetically engineering Humans so they don't need such bright light to see thereby saving the planet as we can switch lights off comes this

http://sciencenordic.com/new-theory-co2-makes-you-fat

note the atmosphere currently contains just 0.039365% CO2

The simple practice of breathing is grossly underrated http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breathing you don't appreciate this unless you have been admitted to hospital with Pneumonia. Many months later when you no longer have to struggle to walk 100 yards without slumping onto a bench or chair in utter exhaustion, the joy of being able to expel the CO2 from your body created through respiration and the ability to suck in great lungfuls of fresh air ..never really leaves you.

I'm going to forgive the BBC for their brief loss of focus during the Orbit Programme.

Over the 3 hours it has been brilliant applause
