@keithhenry I just experimented with Milkyway@home. Seems that WU are sooo hard to get, and there's some 'problems' I see in their forums. I'd be switching this one off. Joined yoyo@home thinking I could merge my really old dnetc account (since 2002 lol) here. Looks like I can't! Seems I'll be settling down in GPUGrid, I think I finally got the setup right. ![]() I think milkyway may put out some alpha GPU work this week (or at least "soon"). I have everything set to run them when they do. This one looks promising because they may have work for lower-end cards that can't be run at GPUGrid. That could allow some to participate when otherwise they could not. Yes, there is a lot of "bitchin' and moanin'" at MW mostly because MW has made a lot of promises they could not keep. It is not easy to put up a GPU project. ***** AQUA is looking into the credits issue. They would have to multiply by 100 to be competitive with GPUGrid. ***** Another beautiful day forecast here. ![]() Sounds like Aqua has some work ahead of themselves... Yes, but one thing I can say about AQUA is they have been excellent in responding to the comments of their crunching community. They picked the SETI model (the same wu will run either on CPU or GPU). Right now this has a huge impact on their CPU jobs (increased to ~100-150 hours). I can't say that I am too keen on their science but I would like them to get off to a good start. ![]() ![]() |

As I said above, AQUA is very quick to respond to the comments of their community of crunchers. The latest:
----------------------------------------"Hi all, I just set up a different application for CUDA cards. This version, called AQUA_CUDA, gets much more credit than the CPU version. You can of course conitnue to run the CPU-only version of the AQAU aplication as before." I shall see what "much more" means. ![]() ![]() |

Dave, sorry for the public request but would you be able to pull a copy of the daily stats for the next few days? According to the support folks, the mobo on my laptop needs to be replaced. It's the laptop that I have the stats files and cooker on (and email). They're overnighting a box and I should be able to have that going back out tomorrow. If they can get it fixed Wednesday, I'd have it back and be back in business on Thursday but that's best case on their turnaround.

Keith -- no problem. I will start tonight. Thanks Dave! My daughther got her tonsils out this morning and I'm a bit preoccupied. She's doing well but I need to take a step back and get a little more organized. It's fun catching up on all the things that have waited on me. I've got the pension handled (aside from making sure the paperwork gets processed and they start sending me money). Dealing with what to do with the 401k is the other biggie. Plan to roll it over into an IRA so we can keep adding to it but the devil is in the details (mainly like with who). I can tell I made a start on syncing key things up between the laptop and the desktop, just not far enough for this. Of course, there's getting another job too but with the time, I've been able to think it over and expect I'll put another career switch to academia at the top. Too many folks have told me I'd be great in teaching ( even wierder is NO ONE has not said that). Guess that's how guys take a hint! ![]() |

@RT lols I should have transferred to WCG from UD earlier! At least I made it in time! Hope this doesn't happen in WCG. :)How's the heat under Vista 64? Is it true they run cooler? Agree with you on Windows 7, a delay is good. Am very happy with my XP / Vista setups. And I don't have the time anymore to play around with betas & such. @keithhenry I just experimented with Milkyway@home. But, I've noticed that it's not running the fans as hard. The case and CPU fans are on auto (as it was with vista 32), but it is much quieter. All four cores are bouncing off of 60C, though, so that's about the same. But with the fans settled down, the house is much cooler! The video card is about the same as well. Maybe a degree or 2 cooler, but with it's fan at 75%, the card is running around 70C. It's quieter, though, and I'm happier!

I actually remember having mine taken out and I was four, I think. As far as teaching goes, I am sure you will do well at it. |

Just practice dropping Foucault and Derrida references into casual conversation and you'll be dropping names like Cornell West at a Slavoj Žižek talk... |

I finally found the icon that everyone has been talking about to get to the last page.
