Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 36 smilesmile

I finished the build of the new machine but because the Mobo changed, Vista will not accept the hard drive. It wants the OEM disk but when I put it in it does not reconize it. sad I'll mess around with it some more tomorrow.
Does that machine happen to have two disk drives? If so, you might try unplugging the non-boot drive. I had a similar problem with a Vista install and that fixed the problem. It was in a MS knowledge base article somewhere.

I'll refrain from my usual MS rants ... this time cool

- D

No only one drive. Let me know if you run across something.

It's hailing like a MoFo right now. Been having soome weird weather. Nice andd cool though.

Neeed battteries.

EDIT: Ahh, that's better. Fresh batteries. Big thunderstorm going on. Have you ever seen a Great Dane try to hide under a coffee table? laughing biggrin laughing The little dog is stuck to my leg.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 36 smilesmile

I'm not sure what to do. It's a Vista 64-bit machine. I may just try to put an old XP drive in it. It does not matter that much for crunching.

***

The AQUA job ended. biggrin 24.14 hours on a 9800GT and 30,524 credits. Happy HAPPY!! laughing biggrin laughing

The batteries arre going dead on my keyboard ... I'm off to find some.

Two things you can try:
Try booting into safe mode (hold the F8 key right after the BIOS screen clears)
If that doesn't work, boot off of the Vista CD an do a repair. It will find the right hard drive controller then, but it will be almost like a clean copy of Windows (maybe a good thing, though).
One of those will work.
AQUA scaled back their credits as you predicted, but they still give generously. wink biggrin
I have 3 wu's turned in so far, and it's 72K right now (when it updates). That's more than 6 months of SETI crunching...
[edit] Oh yeah, awesome weather here today, too. Kind of misty and raining all day long. Not at all like a desert should be, and reminded me of my days growing up in Oregon.
Must have something to do with global warming. laughing

I tried that but it keeps going back to a screen wanting the OS CD.

I'm liking the XP disk idea more and more...

Wow - I've never received a message from the WGC admin before. He sure cleaned up mine and D's messages in the global warming debate. Can't even make sense of them now.
I think D had more asterisk's then I did, though.

Me too biggrin I'm not going to cough up $99.99 for a new OEM copy of Vista skull

I would advise not getting on the wrong side of the admin folks. I am sure D is treading pretty thin water, perhaps more so because he is a CA.

Well... hmm... maybe I shouldn't have posted that argument against the admin, then... sad

"**Edited for intolerance**tkh"

That's the first time I've ever seen that. Sounds a little bit Big Brother-esque.
